Carman Paw Print
October 9, 2022
Dear Carman Families,
Each year we have three class parties. Our first class party will be on Friday, October 28th. As a friendly reminder, students are invited to wear their "fall attire" but students do not wear their costumes during the school day. As an alternative, we have our Trunk or Treat where students are invited to dress up for the evening event. Again, please do not send your child to school in their costume during the school day. Also, per the Parkway Food Policy, students are not allowed to bring in any food or candy items to share. If the items are sent in we will, unfortunately, have to send them back home with the child, as they will not be distributed.
Thank you for your understanding -- we will have many fun fall activities for the students on Fall Party Day!
We will have flu shots available for students and staff on October 24th - please have your child's consent form filled out and sent in with them if you would like them to receive the shot.
As always, you can find upcoming important dates and events at the end of the Paw Print.
With CT Pride,
Allison
Emergency test call scheduled for October 20
Parkway will conduct a test of its emergency notification system for staff and parents on October 20 at 7 p.m. This annual test ensures that we have accurate contact information for you in case of an emergency or closure due to weather. For instructions on updating contact information for your student, click here.
How the emergency test will work:
A phone and text message will be sent to your home and cell phone numbers on file and you will receive an alert notification from the Parkway Schools mobile app. Parents, if you need to update your contact information, log in to Infinite Campus Parent Portal here.
Unity Week is coming up Oct. 17th - 21st - Check out the daily activities!
Lost and found is getting full again!
Please check out the pictures below -- if you recognize anything, please have your student pick it up and bring it home. Thank you for your help with this!

Title 1 Information for Families
A Message from your Carman Trails PTO
Hi Cougar Families! The PTO is still looking for some volunteers to help with class parties (10/28), bookfair (week of 11/7) and the staff conference dinner on November 10th. Please be on the lookout for the Signup Genius to post on the PTO's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/CarmanTrailsPTO and future Paw Prints. We appreciate all your help, we couldn't do it without you!
ARE YOU A VISITOR TO CARMAN TRAILS? OR ARE YOU A VOLUNTEER?
We are excited to be able to welcome our families back into our schools!
Please be aware that the appropriate background checks are required for those wishing to volunteer in the school. Currently, MACHS FBI fingerprint background checks are mandated. The cost to you, the volunteer, for the MACHS fingerprint background check is $41.75. This fingerprint background check only needs to be renewed every six years provided you continuously remain an active volunteer from year to year.
Additionally, there may be other background checks as required by State Law for all Parkway School District volunteers who will be working with and/or around students.
To start the process for becoming a volunteer, you will need to visit the Volunteer Tracker website. This link will direct you to information on how to get signed up with AppGarden and how to complete all of the necessary steps in the process. This is an interactive process and you will be notified by email along the way as to your next steps.
Once you have been approved to volunteer, please reach out to the volunteer coordinator at Carman Trails, Mrs. Karen Regan. You must be approved before you can volunteer. You will receive an email notification from AppGarden when your approval has been finalized. You can reach Mrs. Karen Regan at 314-415-6104 or at kregan@parkwayschools.net
Please note the following specifics related to volunteer and visitor opportunities:
A Parkway volunteer is an individual who has an opportunity to be alone with a student.
A Parkway visitor is an individual in a school for a limited period of time who does not have the opportunity to be alone with a student.
Visitors and volunteers will follow the same health and safety protocols as students and staff.
Per Missouri Statute 168.133, those who wish to volunteer must complete a fingerprint background check through the Missouri State Highway Patrol and FBI. The cost for the background check is $41.75 and is the responsibility of the volunteer. The background check will remain current as long as a volunteer stays active. If a year passes, the volunteer will need to complete and pay for another background check.
Those interested in volunteering may begin to complete the App Garden (Parkway volunteer tracking software).
