Cancer that forms in tissues of the breast, and can happen to both women and men.

Symptoms of Breast Cancer

  • A lump in the breast or underarm that persists after your menstrual cycle
  • Swelling in the armpit
  • Pain or tenderness in the breast
  • A change in the nipples, such as retraction itching, burning sensation, or ulceration
  • Any change in size, contour, texture, or temperature of the breast
  • Unusual discharge from the nipple that may be clear, bloody, or another color

Causes and Preventions


  1. Gender ( most common in women instead of men)
  2. Age (goes up with age)
  3. Family History
  4. Race ( White womwn are slightly more likely to get breast cancer than African American women.)
  5. Dense breast tissue ( more gland tissue and less fatty tissue


  1. Don't smoke
  2. Limit alcohol
  3. Control your wieght
  4. Be physically active
  5. Breast feed
  6. Avoid exposure to radiation and environmental pullution

  • Breast Cancer is very common (mostly women get it)
  • From ages 30-70
  • 12.4% of women born in the United States today will develop breast cancer
