Dual Enrollment Session

Attention Parents and Students that have already signed up through Counseling: Just a reminder the Information session will be on Wednesday December 10th (during IF) from 10:09am-11:35am, in the Commons. College reps presenting from Gordon College, Clayton State, and Southern Crescent will be here to discuss dual enrollment opportunities for the 2015-2016 school year.

Dual Enrollment Quick Facts

  • Dual enrollment is open to 11th and 12th grade students. 9th and 10th grade students may also participate if they meet certain eligibility criteria
  • Students may earn both college and high school credit through dual enrollment
  • Dual enrollment classes can be taken online, on a college campus, or at the Academy for Advanced Studies in Henry County
  • Hope scholarship cap will NOT be affected through this program
  • 10th grade students may be eligible for dual enrollment through the Accel or Hope Grant Programs
  • Students are responsible for checking with the college of their choice to make sure the credits earned through dual enrollment transfer to the certain program of their choosing

10th Grade GA Bridge Bill Activity

I will be conducting an activity with all 10th grade students after we return from break during the week of January 12th-16th. During this activity we will be discussing dual enrollment as well as the Hope scholarship and what is entailed to qualify for it.

Hope Scholarship

To receive HOPE Scholarship funding, students must:

  • Graduate from a HOPE eligible high school with a 3.0 using the HOPE (core courses) grade point average calculation.
  • Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a public or private HOPE eligible college and university in Georgia.
  • Meet additional rigor requirements (click here for more details), beginning with students graduating from high school on or after May 1, 2015.
