A Slice of “Spiritual Bread” for the Christian Home . . .

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12

The portion of God’s Word before us today is a portion of Jesus’ “Sermon on the Mount.” Jesus’ words, first spoken to his disciples and other believers, offer a timely reminder for you and me today as we are challenged in our faith and connection to Jesus and His Word. As the trials and struggles come our way, Jesus wants us to actually find joy in them as we look toward our heavenly home.

Have a wonderful day and may Jesus always keep you in His care!

Blessings in Christ,

Jon Woldt, Principal

Thank You, St. John Families!

Special Thanks to Parents & Students for making "Teacher Appreciation Week 2019" so very special. The gifts of love and thanks from our St. John School family really warmed the hearts of our teachers and staff.

Please continue to keep our teachers in your prayers as we strive to help the students grow in their love for Jesus and in their academic skills as well.

We are blessed here at St. John Lutheran School. Please spread the word and encourage others to "Join Our Family" for the 2019-20 school year and beyond. God is good!

Summer VBS

Vacation Bible School is happening this summer at St. John Lutheran School! Whether you want to sing some catchy songs, make some cool crafts, or play awesome games, VBS is sure to be a blast....into space! The best part is, for all four days, we also get to learn about God's love and miraculous plan of salvation.

We still need volunteers, too! Whether you can be here for just one day or all four, we'll find a way for you to help out in this fun adventure.

Chapel Mission: The Chilenje Project

Our chapel offerings for the second half of the year will be supporting

Chilenje Lutheran Church in Chilenje, Zambia.

This is a group of Christians who are struggling to raise money for a church building to worship in. Currently, they hold their church services in a large tent, but they do have plans to build a church and a school. We have the special opportunity to support them with our chapel offerings. Please keep Chilenje Lutheran Church in your prayers, and consider supporting them with a financial gift as they seek to do God’s work in Africa!

Final Total: $473.37

Closing Chapel Service on Friday, May 24.

Offerings will go to our Tuition Grant Fund

During our Closing Service Friday, May 24, all offerings will go toward our St. John Tuition Grant Fund to support affordable tuition for our school. If you'd like to give online please click here.

INVEST IN KIDS

Please visit our information table in the main hallway.

Illinois’ school choice program called Invest in Kids allows taxpayers to reduce or completely eliminate their Illinois state income taxes by funding scholarships for the many student families with limited financial resources who desire a quality, Christian education at St. John. This program allows any Illinois taxpayer to donate to our St. John-dedicated fund and get 75% of that money back on this year's taxes. It's a huge Win-Win for our school and you!

Please speak with Principal Jon Woldt or School Board Member Peter Kolch (peter.kolch@stjohnslib.com or 773-368-9842) or click here for more information on this wonderful blessing.
