Nutrition Services Announcement
***** A LA CARTE *****
In addition to healthy meals and extra milk/juice or entrees, Nutrition Services will offer students the ability to purchase a la carte snacks and beverages at secondary schools during meal times so long as the have a positive balance on their MealTime account. All items sold will be USDA Smart Snack compliant.
If you do not wish your student to be spending their meal account balance on extra snacks or beverages at school, please set that expectation with them. If it is necessary to limit or block ala carte purchasing on your student’s account, just let us know by email or phone call. Just be aware that this will also limit or block their ability to purchase extra entrees or milk/juice.
Help Needed!
Hello! My name is Lauren Tolo and I am a Sign Language Interpreter for High Desert ESD. I will be traveling to Thailand during Thanksgiving with a friend and Deaf teacher, Tamara Zawacki. We are visiting a residential Deaf school in Bangkok, and we are asking for the following donations to bring with us overseas:
- Children's books
- Small toys we can pack in a luggage
- Small blankets
- Hearing aids/batteries
- Mosquito nets
- Monetary donations for various school supplies
These items can be dropped into a box labeled "Thailand" in the front office. Please feel free to email me with any questions, concerns or wonderings at Lauren.tolo@yahoo.com
Thank you so much, we look forward to bringing these things to Deaf and hard of hearing kids in need!

College Gear Wanted!
Looking for college gear (new and used)! College Day is every Wednesday and we'd love to give gear out to students that may not have something to wear. Drop-offs can be made in the office.
Nurse Debbie's Corner
Cold and flu season will be here before we know it. The basics will help keep us healthy.
Wash your hands frequently.
Cover your nose and mouth with your elbow when coughing and or sneezing.
Get a good night sleep and eating healthy foods will provide your body with the stamina it needs to get through the day and fight off viruses.
If your child becomes ill and feels he or she can not participate in all of the school’s daily activities, keep them home. Your child should be fever free, less than 100.0 degrees, for 24 hours without fever reducing medicine before returning to school.
Discuss with your physician whether it is appropriate to get a flu shot. As always seek out your physician if you are not feeling well and symptoms persist.
