MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL - ISSUE 34
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law against such things.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit.
Holy Spirit we ask you to be with us, as we look to deepen our commitment, to teaching in light of the Catholic faith.
May your fruits be ever present as we learn, grow and teach for the sake of Christ’s Gospel. Amen
Last night and tonight from 6:00pm our Year 3 children are celebrating their First Reconciliation. I wish to thank Father Steven and Father Peter for celebrating this sacrament with our students, and reminding them of the relationship they are building with God, through the act of forgiveness. I also wish to thank Mrs Peach and Mr Miller for preparing the children so well. Thank you Mrs Daslik, our Sacramental coordinator for her preparation and planning. A special mention and thank you to Mrs Killalea, Mrs Longbottom Mrs Williams for the music and the staff who helped as ushers. I also congratulate our parents on the support of their children on their Sacramental journey.
A very special thank you to our wonderful, amazing Year 4 children who will be leading us in the Remembrance Day service at 11am tomorrow. Thank you Mrs Main and Mr Plint for preparing the children so well. Also, please have a look at our fantastic ANZAC Garden, which will be a place where we can reflect on those who fought for our country and freedom. Our Student Council and Mrs Pollard along with Mr Plant and Mrs Langham have done a such a wonderful job creating this beautiful, reflective space.
Tomorrow night is our 3 Year Old Kindy Orientation at 6.30pm in the Kindy classrooms. This is a wonderful opportunity for new families and current families to hear about our program and see how beneficial this will be to the development of the children coming in 2021. We look forward to seeing you there.
Staff Change 2021
I am pleased to announce Mr Stephen Spencer has been appointed classroom teacher at St Peter’s Catholic Primary School, Bedford commencing January 1, 2021. We thank him for his time with us and wish him well for his future.
We send our best wishes to Mrs Papiccio who leaves today and returns to us in 2022. Stay safe and well Mrs Papiccio, God bless!
A Message from our Board Chair, Ms Lucie McCrory
At the end of 2020 Antony Vlahov will be vacating his seat on the St Luke’s Board. We thank Antony for his contribution and service over the last three years. Previous to being on the Board, Anthony also served the school through his participation in the P&F.
Antony’s farewell means that we have a vacant seat for 2021. Tamara Boyer was co-opted this year and we hope to re-elect Tamara for 2021. As of next year, the Board will be renamed the School Advisory Council. If you are interested in nominating yourself for a position on the School Advisory Council please fill in the form located in the Administration Office and prepare a short speech to deliver at the AGM, outlining your suitability for this position. Voting will occur on the evening of the AGM on Wednesday 25 November, 6pm start.
One of the responsibilities of the Board, is to ensure that St Luke’s continues to be successful well into the future. Last year, the entire community worked together to develop the strategic plan. This sets the future vision and helps us to steer together, in the same direction. Earlier this year, the Board invited students, staff and community members to provide feedback on a number of our branding symbols. The responses to the survey can be viewed below.
Overall, there appears to be some confusion over the meaning behind our motto and a number of our symbols. As a learning organization, we hope to make our key messages very clear, so that community members can easily connect to our unique St Luke’s offering and can integrate faith into daily life.
Therefore, to remain contemporary and to ensure our unique message and charism continues to be accessible to our children, the Board will be initiating a process to reimagine a number of our school symbols. This process will be highly consultative.
We wish to isolate and retain all the beauty of our history, tradition and story to date, whilst also preparing our school and our children for their contemporary world. We will engage various community stakeholders at different points of the journey, and importantly, we will listen to student voice.
From the survey we have nearly finalised our new school website and newsletter for 2021. The new website will be presented at the Annual Community Meeting.

Board Chair
PRAYERS FOR THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED
By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to a certain devotion. In November, it is the Holy Souls. Praying for the dead, especially for those loved ones we have known, is a requirement of Christian charity. At school we will recall those loved ones who have passed away during our prayers throughout November. There will be a Book of Remembrance in the Church, in which you can write the names of those loved ones for whom families would like us to pray.
