The Dawg Dish
All that is New and Notable at MVHS
Principals Paws
Greetings Bulldog Families,
As we head into the new calendar year, I would like to reiterate our commitment to providing a quality education for every child on our campus. To this end, we want to establish partnerships with parents and with the community. Everyone gains if Mount Vernon High School and home work together to promote high achievement by our children. Neither home nor Mount Vernon can do the job alone. Parents play an extremely important role as children’s first teachers. Support for their children and for the school is critical to children’s success at every step along the way.
To this end, I would like to share with you upcoming opportunities in the new year for parent and community involvement .
Events
Tuesday, January 15 - MVHS Parent Group Meeting 6:30 p.m. MVHS Library
Overview of Meeting
- Title I Discussion - Mount Vernon High School recognizes that some students may need the extra assistance available through the Title I program to reach the state’s high academic standards. Mount Vernon High School intends to include parents in all aspects of the school’s Title I program. The goal is a school-home partnership that will help all students to succeed.
- Visit from Mr. Hornbacher - MVHS Webmaster
- Visit from Dr. Bruner regarding MVSD Levy Proposal
Thursday January 17 - MVHS Multicultural Night 6 -8 p.m. MVHS Cafeteria
Overview of Meeting
The focus of this event is to celebrate the multicultural diversity we have in our community. During the night, the cafeteria will be full of tables, each representing a country from around the world. On the table will be a poster board and handouts (that the MVHS ASB will create) as well as artifacts and a dessert that originates from the county (which you’d need to supply). On the back of the handout will be the recipe for said desert, that people will be able to taste and hopefully recreate in their own kitchens. After the “world walk” there will be a performance hosted by the high school.
We hope you will be able to join us for these events and look forward to our collaboration in the new calendar year.
With respect,
Dr. Terri Wattawa
Interim Principal MVHS

Patas Principales
Saludos Bulldog Familias,

Dr. Terri Wattawa
Director interino MVHS
