Study Island
Study Island is a web-based program to support mastery of the Florida Sunshine State Science Standards. Study Island is a program to help reinforce material from students’ current year of science instruction as well as apply content from previous years. Lessons on Study Island are designed specifically to help with any learning gaps Florida students may have-- it is noteworthy that 100% of elementary schools who used the program with fidelity saw double digit gains in overall science proficiency scores.
Your students have been building knowledge in areas of Science Processes, Earth and Space Science, Physical Science and Life Science starting in kindergarten. In grade 5, the state conducts state testing in science that covers grades 3-5 standards. With the transitions and challenges faced during the new online learning season, it is very important that students are working on Study Island lessons 30 minutes per week or completing a lesson every two weeks so that they are well-prepared for the next year of science.
Riverside Elementary School
Each week the classes earn an i-Ready trophy for best percentage in the grade level and closest to 45 minutes. Their picture goes up on an i-Ready board. If the class earns the trophy again, a trophy sticker goes on their picture. The big trophy stays in their classroom until another class wins it.
Elliott Point Elementary School
Elliott Point teachers use weekly Lunch Bunch as a way to motivate students to do their best on i-Ready quizzes AND get their minutes!
