LDA Schedule and Reflections

Be sure to complete LDA Reflections after scoring! Please send those reflections to Williams and Bratcher.

link below will allow you access assessment documents and schedules:

Professional Learning

Don't forget to collect three or four student writing samples each month! We are working on our Type 1, 2, and 3 writing in the next few weeks. Remember to have students identify their writing with "Type1" or "Type 2" at the top of their paper. Please plan to have these ready the week of October 31st. We will discuss in PLC.

We will also revisit Lucy Calkins during PLC this week! Bring your kits and evidence of students work to examine progress.

Canvas PLC Pages

It has been difficult to really keep up with your schedules in google communities. In order to help us all become more familiar with platforms where students can upload work and create a digital portfolio, I would like for us to become familiar with Canvas.

Your PLC pages are set up in Canvas and you should have received a notification to join the course. Please, check your emails!

From week to week, I will add some kind of focus to PLC. This might just be in the form of a question you all respond to in Canvas. Thank you all for everything you do! You are truly amazing!

Quality Planning

Unpacking the TEKS is an important part of planning for the "First" teach. During your planning sessions and/or PLC unpack the most important TEKS of the six week grading period. This helps us to ensure we have raised the rigor with powerful learning strategies in regards to student centered work.

Please be sure to include Fundamental Five strategies within your lesson plans as well as Writing Across Curriculum Type writing questions.

Nurse Clinic Closed for Lunch! 11:00-11:30

Nurse Camp will be eating lunch from 11:-11:30 every day. Please, be sure to not send students to the nurses office unless it is an emergency. Please, remember to take Boo Boo Bags with you at recess!

As we get into our year full swing with ARDS, we need to be prepared! Please remember to bring the following:

student cumulative folder

current grades

samples of student work

current and most recent STAAR and other assessment scores

log- in to resources parents can use at home with student to support learning

other resources for parents to work with students

Please, remember to keep your phone either in your pocket or bag during ARD or 504 meetings. (Or place on floor beside you) You need to also be prepared to take notes! Lots of valuable information about the student can be gained from these meetings.

I challenge each of you to Tweet like there is no tomorrow! My challenge to you is to tweet out at least once a day. Don't forget to share the awesome things you are doing in your class! Tweet with #WhyWISD & #curtises. Tweet out some outstanding lessons for how you are focusing on the task to raise rigor!

Future Ready Assistance

I am going to try to schedule time for Shawna Ford to assist with any digital learning tools or strategies. Click the link below to request assistance or to request a time for Shawna to come see what you are doing on your campus!

Field Trips

If your grade level goes on a field trip, jeans and a Curtis shirt are appropriate dress code for that day.
