The Scorch of the Century
The Deadly Tempartures in India
In the summer of 2015 India had the 5th deadliest heat wave recorded in world history and 2nd deadliest on record killing more than 2,300 people. India is located in Southeast Asia surrounded by the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The cause of this massive heat wave are humans pumping carbon dioxide into the air. People who are elderly, ill and poor are hit the hardest. They are unable to stay indoors, find clean water or refrigeration for food. This increases their death rate.
India is experiencing a warmer client and a decrease in monsoon rainfall due to climate change. The change in monsoon triggers frequent droughts that happen in 1987, 2002-2003 and 2015. Droughts in India affected half of the countries crop production.
