Brilliant Brains Bulletin - 4th

November/December

Mrs. Redmon

Current Studies and Explorations

In Mrs. Redmons' class, fourth grade gifted students are off to a great start with our LEGO Mindstorm NXT robots!! Students have discovered how to build their robot from scratch, program their bots using software, as well as started to solve a challenge course.

Throughout November/December, they will continually be given "mind-gearing" challenges to apply their knowledge and test their problem solving skills. Students will share their struggles and successes through open peer dialogues & on-site problem solving discussions.

Students have done a tremendous job navigating their way through the first challenge to figure out ways to maneuver their robot throughout their first course. Students will be give 2 more challenging courses to complete throughout our robotic unit.

a message from Mrs. Redmon

I'm excited about the journey we have taken through robotics so far this year. Robotics is such a hands-on & engaging way to bring STEM into the classroom. There are so many careers students could explore in the field of robotics. I am so proud of what each student has accomplished so far in this unit.

I can't wait to see their ambition and drive during their robotic challenges coming up. Each students is being tested mentally through these challenges to promote higher order thinking skills. I am excited to see each student's programming skills at work during each challenge. Please always feel welcome to share any insights or experiences your child has gained throughout this unit.

If you ever have any questions or thoughts, please always feel free to email me at lisa.redmon@zacharyschools.org.
