DuJardin School has a program called Adults Involved in Mentoring Students (AIMS). Adult mentors meet with students once a week during lunch and recess to eat together while doing a variety of other activities such as play a game, create a craft, or go out on the playground and shoot hoops. These mentors are trained, go through a thorough background check and complete an interview process. This program is another way to offer our students additional support and positive adult attention throughout the day. If you or anyone you know might be interested in volunteering for this worthwhile program please fee free to contact Mr. Dwyer for more information. Parents, if you feel your child might benefit from this program and would like your child to be involved with the mentoring program please contact Mr. Dwyer at 630-894-9200 or mdwyer@sd13.org.
Students will not be attendance on Friday, October 5th for Teacher's Institute Day or on Monday, October 8th as we observe Christopher Columbus Day.

Arts and Crafts Club
Miss Kenny and Mrs. Dyer will be running an arts and crafts club for first and second grade students. The forms are due Friday, September 28, 2018, and the spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis. After sending home the permission slip on Tuesday September 18, the following day there were over 60 permission slips returned between first and second grade. We kept them in the order that they were received. To accommodate the high interest in this club, Miss Kenny and Mrs. Dyer are splitting the two grade levels and will be running the 2nd grade arts and crafts club for the first 20 second grade students who have already turned in their permission slips.
A second arts and crafts club is being added for the first 20 first graders that have already turned in their permission slips. The dates will come home with a letter for both the second grade and first grade students that had their permission slips turned in first. If your student does not come home with a letter by October 2, 2018 then they are not in the club this time around. Thank you for your understanding with this, and if you should have any questions please feel free to reach out to Miss Kenny or Mrs. Dyer.

COD Food Truck Rally
Did you know that 20% of Lake Park High School graduates choose COD as their first college? DuJardin students (i.e. future Lake Park Lancers) can help build the Lake Park High School Scholarship at College of DuPage! Bring friends, family, teammates, and future Lancers to the COD Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K Saturday, Oct. 13 from 2 to 8 p.m. We might even have a few former Lancers on staff at DuJardin, so this is a great way to give back to their alma mater. When individuals sign up for the 5K, their registration fee can help support a dedicated scholarship for a Lancer attending COD. To register, visit www.cod,edu/5K. While there, check out the stellar lineup of outrageous food trucks, family-friendly activities and more. No need to register for the race to enjoy diverse cuisine from 17 sensational food trucks. DuJardin Running Club Girls - make sure to wear a team shirt! DuJardin students and staff - be sure to wear DuJardin spirit wear to represent your school!
