East Valley's Monday Minute

Information for Educators - October 2018

90 East Valley employees attending the Professional Learning Communities conference in Seattle this summer.

Professional Development in East Valley

This year we will continue to focus on growing together and using our collaborative strengths to better serve ALL EAST VALLEY STUDENTS! We know that we have some of the best educators in the Valley working in our buildings and we are determined to use those strengths to support each other as we continue to strive for academic excellence.

In August we sent 90 East Valley educators to Solution Tree's PLC AT WORK Institute, in Seattle. We are proud to be able to continue to emphasize the importance of working in our professional learning communities to ensure that we provide data-driven, differentiated instruction in all of our buildings, for all of our students.

In addition to providing the opportunity for staff members to attend the PLC Institute, we also hosted nearly 70 teachers at our Technology Fair on August 20th. A day to learn about how to promote the use of technology in our classrooms, from Google Basics to classroom websites, the fair was a huge success.

We will continue to provide in-district professional development opportunities, led by our own educators, throughout the school year - be on the lookout for sessions coming soon!

Prepping for the National Boards?

This summer we purchased a new device that will help you record classroom instruction and multiple small group conversations at the same time!

If you'd like to try the SWIVL out in your classroom as you prep for the National Boards or, just to see how your small groups are running, give either Russ Hill or Brittany Kaple a call to check out a device!

Yesterday people around the U.S. celebrated National Podcast Day! Checkout what Google has to offer in their Teacher Tribe podcast, dedicated to using Google technology to support education at https://googleteachertribe.com/ .
