Hawk Happenings

October 18th - 29th

Here's what's happening at Spring Lake

We hope you all have a fun and relaxing fall break! As a reminder there will be no school on Thursday and Friday (October 14-15). We also have a day off next Friday, October 22nd as we wrap up term 1!

We have several events coming up this month including Red Ribbon Week and Halloween. We want to remind parents about our Reflections Contest which is going on now. Fall break would be a great time to work on Reflections projects so you can submit them by the October 27th deadline (see below for more information).

Have a wonderful FALL BREAK!

Halloween Parade!

We are thrilled to announce that we will be holding our Halloween Parade on Friday, October 29th at 1:15 pm, weather permitting. In order to maintain safety, the parade will take place outside. We ask that parents remain outdoors and maintain a safe distance. Parents are welcome to view the parade from a location of their choice as indicated in the viewing area map shared below.

If we experience inclement weather, we ask parents to log on from home and watch the parade virtually on our website.

Students may wear their Halloween costumes to school that day. As a reminder, costumes should meet the dress standards for school. Masks will only be allowed during the parade, but not at any other time throughout the day. Please remember that weapons of any kind (even toy weapons) should be left at home.

We look forward to this fun annual event and invite you to join us!

Red Ribbon Week - October 24th - 29th

We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week the last week of October and are looking forward to many fun events designed to help students decide now to live a healthy, drug free life! The theme this year is "Drug Free Looks Like Me!"

On Monday, October 24th, students will take the "Pledge to Be Drug Free" by creating their own paper jack-O-lantern and gluing it on our "We're All AGLOW to Just Say No!" poster. Each student who takes the pledge will be given a glow-stick!

Throughout the week we will have different theme days that are listed on the flyer below. It would be a great idea to talk with your children at home about living a drug free life.

We are currently accepting entries for our PTA Reflections Contest which is an annual art contest for students. Children may create and submit entries in the areas of visual arts, 3-D art, film, photography, dance, music and literature.

The theme for this year is "I Will Change the World By..."

The students only have a couple more weeks to get all of their Reflections Art entries submitted. The due date is Wednesday, October 27th.

Fall break would be a great time to work on your entries!
