Celebrating Our Unified Basketball Athletes
Recently, our Unified Basketball athletes participated in their annual scrimmage game. The Unified Basketball Team consists of both typical peers and special education peers that work together to learn and play the game. During the game, the staff played against the students.
"This continues to be such a positive experience for our students, their families and our staff. I appreciate all the work that goes into this from our Special Education Department," said Superintendent Dr. Ted Stec.

Remote Learning Vs. Snow Days
During his Superintendent Report, Dr. Ted Stec reflected on the recent snow days the district called in response to expected poor weather conditions. Moving forward, he noted it will be important that the district defines in advance when snow days will be used vs. remote learning days.
As Stec noted, there are situations when calling school completely is the appropriate decision. However, the district has also invested time in developing an e-learning plan to temporarily utilize remote learning days in some situations.
The Board noted the importance of equitability and flexibility for all students when utilizing remote learning days. Remote learning for younger learners should have different expectations than those in older grades, members commented.
Dr. Stec will be working with members of the administration to develop parameters around calling snow days vs. remote learning, and once completed, these will be shared with staff and families.
