Claxton Fall Carnival
Come one, come all! Autumn is upon us, and the 2019 Claxton Fall Carnival and PTO fundraiser is just around the corner on Friday, Oct 25 from 5:30-8:00 pm. All are invited to an evening of community, food, and fun.
Expect a magical event, including: bounce house, obstacle course, food, classic carnival treats, music, haunted cardboard arcade, cake walk, carnival games, prizes, and much more...
The "Carnival Countdown" kicked off today with the announcement of Claxton's 2019 Carnival Flyer Art Contest winner, chosen from fifty-eight wonderfully creative submissions. Congratulations to our 4th grade winner, shown in the photo with Carnival Chair Susannah Watson!
Volunteering for the Fall Carnival is a fun way to get to know the Claxton Community. This big event requires a lot of volunteers! Volunteer for a time slot, and still have time to enjoy the Carnival. Please sign up at tinyurl.com/clxcarnival
More details and advance ticket purchase options will be available soon. Financial assistance is available; please contact email@example.com or call 350-6503 before October 23 for more details about financial assistance.
Please contact us with any questions.
Thanks so much,
Kelly Yeiser: firstname.lastname@example.org

HUGE thanks to each and every person and business who pledged as a part of this fundraiser. Through your efforts, the Claxton PTO will exceed our goal - $30,000 in profit has been pledged!
The kids had SO much fun running, jogging, walking, and dancing their laps to some pumped up music with their Claxton friends. It was such a FUN event!!!!
Although the Fun Run itself has taken place - the next BIG step is receiving the money that was pledged. Please help out our PTO Volunteer Fun Run Co-Chairs by turning in money and asking friends and family to do the same. It is greatly appreciated!
4th Grade Families--Sign-Up for Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Every year Claxton Families and the PTO, together, make a point to thank the staff and teachers of our school for working tirelessly to ensure Claxton’s success and that our kids have a safe environment to learn and thrive.
One way we show our appreciation is by hosting Staff Appreciation Luncheons provided by Claxton families. We have four luncheons scheduled this school year and we ask each grade to help with one meal. Our first Staff Appreciation Luncheon hosted by 5th Grade families was a great success and we know the staff is looking forward this next one hosted by our 4th Grade Families: a TACO BAR on Wednesday, October 9th!

Claxton Jubeelee Team is Seeking Volunteers
Planning is underway for the Claxton Jubeelee (previously known as the Claxton Auction), and the Jubeelee Team would love some help. The event will take place on Saturday, February 29, so mark your calendars! The Jubeelee is an evening event for grown-ups with food, drinks, auction, music, dancing, and more!
Do you want to help with the initial planning details? Do you want to help gather donations? Would you be willing to help with Facebook posts, the online auction, or other tech-related components of the auction?
Please contact Amy Aiken (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are interested and willing to pitch in for this super fun event and major fundraiser for Claxton. Thank you!
Join Our Own Ms. Abby & the CLAXTON BUZZ Team for Eblen's Walk, Run, or Roll!
Hello Claxton Families,
We are calling for your support of Eblen Charities’ annual WALK, RUN, and ROLL event coming up on Oct 12 at ABTECH Campus. Their services impact our school community in many positive ways each school year. EBLEN is a lifeline for so many families through their assistance with medical care and supplies, travel assistance, dental and prescription care, funding assistance for food, rent, heat and other emergency aid. We are asking for your help in making a team of walkers for our Oct 12 event! Monies raised by this important event go DIRECTLY to our children’s programs. Your participation is very important. The WALK date is Oct 12 and registration is open now.
Sign up HERE by finding and joining our "CLAXTON BUZZ" Team! We want to be the champion school this year and I know we can do it. Bring your family and friends for a fun morning and enjoy a nice non-competitive Walk or Run on a 5K/10K route with music, entertainment, kids’ zone, and a lunch provided by Outback Steakhouse! We will be joined by Kiss Country and Star 104.3 with iHeartRadio and the event organizers are putting together some awesome prize baskets for the top money raisers!
Thank you for supporting our students and their families through this event.
I hope to see you there!

Volunteering at Claxton
1) Whether you're a new or returning Claxton volunteer, an online background check is needed each year to volunteer in any capacity with students at school or as a supervising chaperone on field trips. It takes about 5 minutes to start your background check but can sometimes take 2-3 weeks for checks to be approved. You cannot volunteer until your background check has been approved, so jump over to this link to get yours started. https://bib.com/SecureVolunteer/Asheville-City-Schools/
2) Also, all volunteers need to attend a brief (~30min) Level II volunteer training with Asheville City Schools before you can volunteer at Claxton. The training is a one-time requirement (not needed each year) and this year's schedule is set so you can go ahead and check the calendar. Please see below for the next training sessions or check this year's full calendar HERE. Trainings take place in the Boardroom at Asheville City Schools' Central Office at 85 Mountain Street unless otherwise noted. No registration is required to attend the training.
