Newsletter Week 5 Term 3
Huirangi Primary School, Monday 23rd August 2021
Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!
Well, what a week it has been! As you will now be aware, the nation remain in Level 4 of lockdown until 11.59pm Friday. Although I am keeping in regular contact with you all, I have created this newsletter to keep you informed of upcoming events and notices as they come to hand.
My two sons and I were on the road for most of the day today delivering devices to those of you who had requested them. It was awesome to drive around our stunning community making connections to where some of you live. I was even pulled over by the Police to see what we were up to! Luckily we weren't breaching the safety rules!
If you didn't receive a device and think you did request one, please email me: email@example.com
As a staff we have been working very hard over the past few days to ensure that distance learning programmes are delivered in the most effective and less stressful way. You will have all heard from your child's teacher by now. Please ask if you have any questions or concerns. If the distance learning is a chore and causing frustration in your home, take a break from it. I have found what works best for us in my household is to set a routine and stick to it. No more than 30 minutes of one subject or activity at a time, and definitely don't try and fill your child's day with JUST schoolwork.
As we all learnt last lockdown, plenty of learning can be done through general day to day activities.
Keep an eye on your inbox for an invite to our School Assembly on Friday.
Until then, stay safe.

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2022
Under our Enrolment Scheme guidelines, the Board of Trustees has determined that 10 places are likely to be available for ‘out of zone’ students who will be starting school in 2022. Priority will be given to New Entrant students starting school. The exact number of places available will depend on the number of enrolments received from students who live within the school ‘home zone’.
Applications for enrolment for an ‘out of zone’ student is to be made by completing an enrolment form available from the school office. The deadline for receipt of this application is FRIDAY 24th SEPTEMBER 2021
Parents who live within the ‘home zone’ and intend enrolling their child in 2022 should also apply before this deadline to allow the school the opportunity to plan for the 2022 year.
If the number of ‘out of zone’ applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required, it will be held on Monday 27th September 2021. Parents will be informed of the outcome within three school days of the ballot being held.
The Board of Trustees
Please Note - as mentioned in past newsletters, if you live out of zone, and if you already have a child/children at this school, and you have a younger child starting school next year, you still have to make application [hand in a completed enrolment form] on or before the date advertised above. So, please be aware of this. Don't hesitate to call school to clarify this if need be.
