Flu Season is Coming!
The School-Based Health Clinic (SBHC) will be offering flu vaccines to students enrolled in the clinic. Please complete the vaccine consent form and return it to the health office if you are interested in your student receiving the vaccine here at AIS.
GET YOUR FLU VACCINE AT AIS SCHOOL BASED HEALTH CLINIC!
The “Flu” also known as “Influenza”, is a very contagious virus. It is spread when you either breathe infected droplets in the air (from a cough or sneeze) or touching something infected with the virus—a pen, table, spoon, etc. The virus may live up to 8 hours on an object!
Flu Symptoms are more severe than the common cold and include:
· Fever up to 104 degrees
· Chills and shakes with the fever
· Extreme tiredness
· Headaches and body aches
· Dry hacking cough
· Sore throat
· Vomiting and belly pain
Hand washing is very important in preventing the spread of germs. Also staying healthy by eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and getting a good night’s sleep will assist in preventing the spread of germs and the virus.
The NUMBER ONE way to prevent the virus is to get the annual Flu Vaccine. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommends all people over the age of 6 months get one yearly in the fall.
The SBHC (School Based Health Center) is offering the Flu Vaccine to all students who are currently enrolled in the SBHC:
· If your child is enrolled and you would like them to receive the flu vaccination, review the included consent form. Please complete, check-off, and sign ALL areas of the form and return to the SBHC (Nurse’s Office). Please understand that without the proper consent, your child cannot receive the vaccination.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 860-242-7834 x2315.
Josiane Alexandre, APRN
If your child or anyone in your household is experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms please refrain from sending your child to school until the appropriate quarantine has taken place. For more information or COVID-19 related questions please contact our school nurse.
Dragons Supporting Dragons
One of our Dragons families is in need of some support with after school care.
My husband and I have a difficult schedule at work and need help locally. We are in need of someone to pick up our 2 younger children (2nd & 4th Grade) from UHMS at 3:20PM and take them to a local Barnes and Noble or Library to do homework until meeting at International at 4:45PM.
If you are interested in helping please contact Ms. Gibson.
