EAGLES NEWS
October 31st, 2022

Dear Washington Families,
The leaves are turning colors, the temperatures are finally beginning to fall, and the night sky is getting darker more quickly each day. Fall is here!
It was great to see the many families that joined us for our Dia de Los Muertos Night (Day of the Dead Night). It’s nice to be a part of a great community that values the culture and supports the education of their children. Please take a peek at our photo album of the amazing event. Huge thank you to the Washington Parent Engagement Committee for starting our year off with an amazing event.
It does really take a village to raise a child. Thank you families and staff for your continuous effort and trust in building our community up.
Warmest Regards,
Mr. Belanger
Spirit Week
WHS Mariachi
We are extremely fortunate to have had the Woodburn High School Mariachi visit Washington earlier this month. The Mariachi members introduced themselves to all K-5 students and showed off their amazing talents to our young students in a short, but engaging assembly. There they learned what it took to become part of the WHS Mariachi which they can start by participating in many musical enrichment opportunities while in elementary.
Eagle Feathers
What are Eagle Feathers?
At Washington, we use Eagle feathers as our School-wide Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) reward for students. Students are recognized when a staff member observes the student following our school expectations. At Washington, students and staff strive to Be Safe , Be Respectful, and Responsible every school day.
Students have the opportunity to exchange these Eagle feathers for small prizes in the Eagle Feather Store. The student store is currently open every Monday morning from 7:30 to 7:55 right outside the Gym and Cafeteria.
Become a Volunteer!
Would you like to be more involved in our school or in your child's classroom? Would you like to support upcoming events? Would you like to accompany your student on field trips?
Well, please consider becoming a WES Parent volunteer. Parent volunteers will be in the know of upcoming events and efforts to create a well-rounded education for all our students.
Please come into our school office to learn about the steps to become a Volunteer and pick up the Volunteer Packet.
Reminder of School Hours
Just a reminder that our doors are open from 7:30 to 3:30 Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
On Wednesdays, we have district-wide Late Start, and our doors don't open until 8:40 am.
Time is important for everyone. Please make sure your student arrives at school at the correct time.
