FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

Another week of school has come and gone. It is so wonderful to once again see students in our classrooms, and to see those classrooms filled with the joy of learning! While at times it can be challenging to follow all of the necessary protocols and safety guidelines, we are grateful for the opportunity to be learning and growing together again.

I am deeply appreciative of the way each of our families has responded to our safety protocols, particularly social distancing, mask wearing, and the completion of our daily screening tool. You efforts make all the difference in keeping our community safe and certainly do not go unnoticed!

Please note that, as previously announced, this Monday, September 21st is an Early Dismissal Day, with dismissal at 1:30pm. Busses will run starting at 1:30pm from the school. Please review the Academic Calendar attached below for additional early dismissal days throughout the year. A reminder that these 1:30pm dismissal days are approximately aligned to professional days on the state-wide RIDE calendar, allowing staff professional development time and the opportunity to tap into portions of RIDE professional development resources, as needed/desired.

A few additional notes for the week ahead:

  • Additional Masks: During the course of the school day, students may need an additional mask due to the mask becoming dirty, breaking, etc. With this in mind, we ask that students keep an additional mask at school. Many teachers have created designated holders and locations for these additional masks.

  • Social Distancing at Arrival and Dismissal: Please be mindful of social distancing during arrival and dismissal. The entire school community is working diligently to maintain stable groupings within our school, including during arrival and dismissal. With this in mind, we ask that multiple families avoid congregating in groups on school grounds after dismissal.

  • Water Bottles: A reminder to bring in a water bottle to school, particularly on gym days

  • Probable Cases & Testing Procedures: The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find these RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.

Calendar Clarification

There was a typographical error in the October Lunch Calendar that stated there was no school on October 19th. Our apologies for any confusion. As noted in the Academic Calendar included in the Forms and Important Documents section below, October 19th is a full day of school.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
