Winter 2021 Vol 1 Issue 2
Dear Families,
Happy New Year!!! I hope this year brings you peace, joy, and happiness. Welcome to the second semester of the school year. As we begin this new semester, It is important that we keep the lines of communication open and maintain complete transparency at all times. At this point, we are uncertain when students will be able to return to "in person" learning. Check our school website, Facebook and Instagram for the latest information. We understand and appreciate that you are doing your very best with your students at home and for that we applaud you. Let's continue to maintain high expectations for learning, and a commitment to educational excellence. Join me live Mondays for Mornings with Martin to get the latest information on what's happening in the Bear's Den.

Creating Vision Boards with Your Kids
A great way to help your child set goals for the new year is by having them create a Vision Board. A Vision Board is a visual representation of your child's dreams and goals using poster-sized visuals. It is a collection of images and text that represent what they hope to see themselves accomplishing in their future. Putting goals on paper in a visual format can actually help your child achieve them. Studies have shown that mental practices (like visualization) can increase motivation, confidence, and performance. Creating a vision board is also a fun arts and crafts project that allows your child to see what their goals would look like once they achieve them.
How to Create a Vision Board:
- Take a moment of self-reflection and create a list of goals and things that are most important to you.
- Look for photos and words in magazines and online for visual representations of your goals and values.
- Create a collage on a poster board using the images and words that you found.
- Place your vision board in a place that’s in your regular line of sight.
- Update and reflect upon your vision board daily. Ask yourself if you are on track towards these goals and what you can do to achieve them.
Vision boards can be a really positive, encouraging way for kids to learn to believe in themselves. It's the tactile, visual version of “You can do anything you set your mind to,” because it serves as a regular reminder of what they hope for the future and how they can accomplish it. Just know that your child doesn’t have to be the only person to create a vision board. Each of your family members can create their own! Vision Boards can be a fun tradition for your family to do at the start of every year.
