Middle School Weekly Wrap-Up
March 8th, 2024
Great Classroom Instruction & Activities, ICAP Parent Meeting, Women's History Month, MAP Practice & Prep, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Spring Sports have begun!
I was able to see some great lessons and instructional activities within our classes this week. The students and teachers were busy with activities.
Thank you goes out to the 8th grade parents and students that attended the ICAP meeting. Thank you to Mrs. Clark and Mr. Ballard for the information on the upcoming transition to high school, and course options. (Parents/Students make sure to fill out the ICAP form and return it to school.)
The staff and students have been in collaboration to review for the upcoming spring MAP tests. They use many different programs and forms of materials to review the grade level concepts that will be assessed on the MAP test. They review the online tools training to better prepare the students. DESE also has released test items for review. The MAP test will be given the last week in April and the first week in May (middle school sessions).
Spring Sports have begun! If you are interested in middle school track talk to Mr. Holland! Prior to the Spring sports beginning there will be a parent meeting with the coaches and our Athletic Director, Mr. Terry Edwards. Everyone will be given a copy of the Grandview R2 Athletic Policy and specific sport policies that will be enforced and followed. (The parent meeting was Wednesday, 2/28) Here is a link to the Grandview R2 Athletic Policy
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, March 18th from 12:00pm-6:00pm. Please make plans to attend. During conferences we will have a welcome meeting, open educational discussions, Title 1 District Meeting (4:00pm), and CHAD's Coalition Meeting (5:00pm). (See Flyer)
School Dress Code......as it gets warmer outside, please focus on the dress code. You can review the dress code in the Middle School Handbook.
Reminder to Parents and Students............you cannot stay on the school campus after school unsupervised. If you are in a sport then you are to be with your team, and supervised by the coaches.
Dress Code
The Grandview R-II Board of Education has established the following dress requirements:
Shorts and dresses may be worn if they are not short shorts or mini-dresses. As a guideline, dresses are to be no shorter than mid-thigh. Shorts should be fingertip length.

No spaghetti straps, tank, tube, halter, or off the shoulder tops are to be worn. Tops must have a 2 inch wide strap to be worn.
Blouse-shirt length must be worn so that the bottom of the shirt or blouse comes to the top of the pants. Midriffs must be completely covered. No visible cleavage is allowed.
Hats and head coverings including hoodies are not to be worn inside the school building.
Any clothing/dress articles or appearance that disrupt the normal educational process will not be allowed.

No see through clothing unless over other suitable clothing.
Leggings/Jeggings must have appropriate coverage
No pajamas, bath or pajama robes to worn except on designated days
No blankets are allowed at school
It is the responsibility of the staff and administration to set the tone for the educational progress of the students at Grandview School District. Extreme styles, fads, or circumstances not covered, or those that constitute a threat to health or safety, will be treated as inappropriate by the administration or staff. Student dress should lend itself to positive health and safety while meeting basic social expectations. Failure to comply with the guidelines set forth could subject the student to disciplinary action. The principal or his designated staff will make the final decision at the school level as to whether specific attire is disruptive and/or inappropriate. If a student or parent is in doubt about the appropriateness of an item, the best decision is to leave the item at home.
