April Newsletter
2017
Tomorrow, April 4th...
Dear Parents,
In lieu of parent conferences on April 6th and 7th we are going to have a 3rd grade parent night on Tuesday, April 4th at 5:00 p.m. in the MWE Library.
We want to show you the format of the STAAR test, answer any questions you may have, and give you some very engaging games that you can play with your child.
The games are based on skills that have been previously taught, and will serve as reinforcement that should help every child achieve their best on these assessments.
Playing these games with your child will give you the opportunity to have fun with your child, and also generate more conversations about what they are learning in third grade.
We hope to see you on April 4th at 5 p.m. in the MWE library.
Kindest regards,
Third Grade Team
For students who need extra assistance, personal invitations will be extended to attend tutoring on the afternoons of April 6th and/or April 7th. Also, additional parent conferences may be scheduled, as necessary.
Language Arts
April is poetry month!! We'll be reading poems and using our critical thinking to make inferences and draw conclusions.
We will be finishing up our nonfiction genre study. Afterwards, we'll be reviewing all genres through Camp Read A lot, games, and book clubs (and so much more!)
Math
This month in Math students will be studying geometry. They'll discuss symmetry and find the attributes of 3-D shapes. After geometry they will study measurement. This unit will include telling time & elapse time, money, length, and area & perimeter.
Our mathematicians will be working hard!
