Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
August has arrived and we are just a few weeks away from starting school. Prep days for our Class of 2022 (seniors) and Class of 2023 (juniors) happen this coming Wednesday, August 4. We look forward to seeing you during the scheduled times, seniors 8 - 10am and juniors 10am - 12noon. Then, remember, freshmen and sophomores, we are welcoming you and your families on Thursday, August 12, (next week), from 6 - 8pm.
As a note of reference, my goal is to send a #DATADoes Newsletter each week with updates, important information, highlights of students' work, and celebrations of the great things happening at DATA at TR. The #DATADoes newsletter is emailed, linked on the DATA website under the Director's Den area, and shared via Remind. It is my intent to keep communication flowing to you so that you can remain up to date and in the loop on important DATA details. Thank you for reading the news and sharing points of interest with me that might be helpful for all.
In this newsletter, I have included some additional reminders and repeated some details to help prepare you for next year. Our amazing DATA Alliance has shared some "Welcome" letters and updated some membership information. Thank you for reviewing the many details below. Please continue to stay safe. If you have specific questions, please feel free to reach out.

Dress code -
Students at Roosevelt and DATA do not have to wear uniforms. Students must follow the NEISD Student Code of Conduct and Dress Code requirements. Here is a link to the NEISD webpage with the code of conduct and dress code details. DATA students are encouraged to wear DATA shirts on Thursdays each week as we mark that day as DATA day on our campus. We will have DATA shirts available for students when the school year begins. College shirt days are Wednesdays and TR spirit days are usually Fridays unless football games fall on a Thursday.
Magnet Bus Schedule -
NEISD students enrolled in magnet programs not offered at their Home Campus are shuttled to the magnet campus. Students will ride Home Campus bus to magnet campus & will be returned to Home Campus. Family is responsible for getting student to & from the Home Campus. NEISD transportation department schedules the magnet shuttle buses. Here is the link to the transportation site where the schedule will be posted. At this time, the schedule is not available but will be posted by August 9, 2021.
Backpacks -
During the 2021–2022 school year, North East ISD will no longer require clear backpacks for students at our middle and high school campuses. However, our clear bag policy for events will remain the same. Please click here to watch a video message from Dr. Maika regarding backpacks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6UOR8ejE20

AP exam scores available
The scores for Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken during Administrations 1 and 2 in May 2021 were made available to all students starting Wednesday, July 21. More information can be found on the student AP scores website. Students, be sure to log in and access your scores if you took an AP exam.
Regardless of a student’s score, taking the exam has benefits. And, if students do score a 3 or higher, they can earn college credit and/or placement. Learn more about credit and placement.
If you are signed up to take an AP class this next school year, we will be strongly encouraging you to register for the exams and challenging the exams. For example, incoming freshmen have the opportunity to challenge the AP Human Geography exam in the Spring of the school year and can earn college credit along with the high school credit. Research shows that students who take AP exams in high school are more likely to graduate college on time.
