If you have not already, please take two minutes to help Chartwell plan our February 29th Leap into the Future Event (and future events) by filling out this survey. Even if you cannot attend the event, this will still help Chartwell design workshops and/or opportunities at a later date.
Please RSVP to Leap into the Future using the Evite link below or emailing (cfn@chartwell.org) ASAP. It is very important we have an accurate count so we have enough food and beverages without wasting anything. Also, in the comments section, please add your child/children name(s) so we can make it easier connecting your response to your child.

Lastly, just a clarification that this event is for parents and family members, not for students. So leave the kids at home and join us for a fun night!
February 26th is Pink T-Shirt Day.
Bullying is a major problem in schools, workplaces, homes, and over the Internet. Each year, on Pink T-Shirt Day, we are encouraged to wear something pink to symbolize that we as a society will not tolerate bullying anywhere. Take the message and remember it all year long.
It is so important that victims of bullying know they are not alone and there is help and support available. Wearing a pink shirt on this day sends a strong message to them that others care. Often, the simple act of wearing a shirt can start conversations - conversations can be a big step towards healing and helping!

ACT Testing for 11the Grade Students: April 14th-17th
All 11th graders under age 18 are bringing home a form tonight that requires the signature of a parent or guardian.
Our students take the ACT at school during the school day because testing at school with accommodations and people they know is considerably less stressful than testing on a Saturday with a bunch of strangers and without accommodations.
The ACT is currently the most popular college entrance exam (more commonly used than the SAT) and is accepted by all colleges. While the value of the ACT in the admissions process is arguable, the value of taking a standardized test is not. It's important for students to have the experience of taking a standardized exam as it is very likely they will have to do so again in their lives, especially if they choose to go into medicine, the trades, graduate school, education, cosmetology, or any number of other educational or career paths.
Students can prepare for the exam using the ACT website, which offers several free sample tests and options for test prep.

Student-Led Rock Climbing Club: Date Update
Due to a delay in the re-opening of Sanctuary Rock Gym, the first meeting of the rock climing club has been delayed to the first week of March. This club will consist of going to Sanctuary Rock Gym in Seaside two times per week for a one-hour duration after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30. If your child is interested in joining this club, please fill out the online safety liability wavier here: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/5d8bce80a4497/web/
Students interested in joining the club will need to join as members at Sanctuary, which costs $50 per month with a student ID.
Though faculty and staff are welcome to join us, this is a student-led club.
You are welcome to email the club's leader, 12th grader Ethan Benas, at ebenas@chartwell.org.

Friday Flex: Sex Ed Takes a Break Tomorrow
Tomorrow we will take a break from sex ed for some fun community building. Next Friday, we will get going with sex ed again with a visit from the Monterey Rape Crisis Center. They will present on a range of topics relating to consent, assault, avoiding assault and resources. Students will continue to be divided by gender for this presentation. Again, families, if you require your students to skip these lessons (or just certain topics), please let us know.
