G2 CoGat Testing
The Ohio Department of Education requires public school districts to identify students in grades K-12 for gifted identification. As part of the screening process for superior cognitive abilities, Jackson Local Schools administers a group ability test to all grade 2 and grade 5 students. Jackson Local uses the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT).
Strausser’s 2nd grade students will take the CogAT test the week of January 24. More information will come from your child’s teacher. This test does not require any studying or special preparation. Because of the types of questions that are asked (finding similarities and differences, following directions, classifying, sequencing and completing analogies), many students enjoy taking this test.
