Provost Academy SC
Resource Course Syllabus for Special Education students
Course Description and Expectations 2013-2014
Welcome to Resource with Provost Academy SC! Each student will be contacted by a Resource Teacher and will be given all of their contact information. The Student is expected to attend their Resource live sessions for the number of minutes of service dictated in the IEP. He/She is expected to log in and attend/interact with the Resource Teacher based upon a predetermined schedule. During that time, the student and teacher will address the goals set forth in the IEP based on the areas that need improvement for the student. Also expected of the student is completion of certain assignments/assessments outside of the resource time that will be done electronically and then graded on the computer by the Resource Teacher. The student will be graded on completion not correctness. This is how progress, or lack thereof, is determined and how the IEP can be changed or modified in a meeting to properly address student needs throughout the year. All resource students will be expected to attend a session of ORIENTATION the first week of school (or THEIR first week if a late enrollee) where they will meet their teacher, become oriented with the school portal and other matters of great importance. Your Resource teacher will provide you an email address, cell phone number.
Grading
The student will be graded on completion not correctness. This is how progress, or lack thereof, is determined and how the IEP can be changed or modified in a meeting to properly address student needs throughout the year. As well, the student is expected to respond to all emails or phone calls from the resource teacher that require a response, even if just to indicate that the email was read. Grading will be based on Attendance of Live Sessions (50%) and Completion of all required activities (50%)
