A Note from the Principal

Dear Families,

It has been an exciting Catholic Schools Week so far, and I hope that you will be able to join us for our closing Catholic Schools Week tomorrow, Friday, at 9:00 a.m. Your children are able to sit with you during Mass, however, we ask that you wait for them in the Church.

This past weekend, we received wonderful news that was the perfect kick-off to Catholic Schools Week 2020. I am so happy and proud to announce that Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School is one of the twelve finalists of the Innovations in Catholic Education Awards from Today's Catholic Teacher, a national magazine. This is an annual award given to schools with the best innovations in Catholic education and who implement effective, creative programs and projects. We submitted our nomination in the category of Promoting Catholic Identity for our Only One You project. You can read about it below. We are competing with two other schools from Colorado and Minnesota in this category, and the winner will be announced in the spring. We hope to hear good news in the spring.

Finally, thank you to all of you who joined us at any of our events during Catholic Schools Week! What a true blessing to be able to share in these events with you. Thank you for your fervent and constant support of Catholic education and Saint Paschal Baylon School!

Peace and blessings,

Diane Raguz, Principal

Rev. John Thomas Lane, SSS, Selected as the 2020 Distinguished Graduate

We are proud to announce that our very own Reverend John Thomas Lane, SSS, will be honored as the Distinguished Graduate of 2020 at tomorrow's closing Catholic Schools Week Mass. Father Lane is a graduate of the SPB Class of 1979 and has served as our pastor since 2009. Father Lane is the son of parishioners John and Jo Ann Lane, and he was ordained in 1992. His accomplishments are many and his contributions to our parish and school as well as the Church are significant. In addition to his duties as pastor and Local Superior and Consultor of the St. Ann Province, Father Lane is a published author, a musician, and a national workshop presenter.

Father Lane was nominated by Mrs. Beth Mennel and Mrs. Kelly Keefe, both Distinguished Graduates themselves,, and was chosen by the Distinguished Graduate Committee from the nominations received. Father Lane will receive his award at the closing Catholic Schools Week Mass on Friday, January 31 at 9:00 a.m. Please join us to congratulate him on this honor.

We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!

This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.

Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 3.
