Ozark Tiger E-News
WEEKLY NEWS HIGHLIGHTING OUR STUDENTS & STAFF
You’ll often hear “Ozark South Has Heart,” and it was evident May 1! South didn't let school being canceled on Wednesday stop them from having their staff barbecue. Instead, administrators and staff brought the food dishes, grilled hamburgers and extra goodies to the emergency personnel working in the Waterford subdivision.
Thank you, Ozark, for all the heart you’ve displayed to us and our students this week!
FFA Horse Judging Team Named State Champs
The 91st Missouri FFA Convention April 25-26 brought big success for the Ozark High School FFA Chapter, as Ozark brought home a state championship and a third place in team divisions, along with two students receiving individual awards.
Out of 47 teams, the Ozark FFA team consisting of Haze Wright, Keetan Stutesmun, Tyler Albright and Bailey Clement won the horse evaluation and selection career development event.
Ozark placed third in the dairy cattle evaluation career development event out of 60 teams. The team members were Alexis Orthelious, Allie Barks, Taylor Denief and Hallory Parks.
The Missouri FFA Association also recognized Ozark’s Dakota Heidt as the Area 12 Star Farmer and Ozark’s Bailey Clement as the Area 12 Star.
Community Garden
The Conservation and Resilience classes at Finley River School planted a community garden after talking about the physiological benefits of gardening. It was great to get fruits and veggies in the ground.
Living Locally
Prairies, forests, lakes, meadows, caves and rivers — Missouri has so much to offer! Kindergarten students at West Elementary have been working hard on their Living Locally unit where they researched, explored and learned about different habitats. Check out these awesome displays they made in their pod!
3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Action
South kindergartners researched habitats and animals and then headed to the “recording studio” to make a video and share their facts.
We appreciate you!
North Elementary students spent time in art class this week making thank you cards for their teachers.

Making Music
Congratulations to the OHS band and choir students who competed at state contest in Columbia April 26. Choir received 12 gold, nine silver and four bronze awards. Band received 14 gold, nine silver and five bronze. What a celebration of talent, skill, hard work and learning!
Have you signed your child up for our Summer School EDventure? It's going to be so much fun with Around the World in 80 Clays at South Elementary, Summer Down Under at West Elementary, The Ozark Express at East Elementary and Camp Code at North Elementary. Learn about robotics or the Titanic at OMS and take Fit for Life at OJH and OHS. There are so many fun EDventures!
Find course descriptions and registration instructions at www.ozarktigers.org/summerschool and sign up through Parent Portal.
Kindergarten parents are now able to register on the Parent Portal, as well!
Hands-on science
OJH eighth graders have been learning about natural disasters in science, with each teacher focusing on a different topic — earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes and floods. Students built resistant structures in their classes and then tested their structures.

Read Around the Farm
Cows and pigs and chickens, oh my! Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center students and families had a great time learning about farm animals at Read Around the Farm May. 2. Children read books, made crafts and played games — all relating to things found on a farm.
It's School Lunch Hero Day. Don't forget to thank a staff member!
May 1 was School Principals’ Appreciation Day. We are thankful for the dedication and passion our principals have for kids. In the words of students, you “correct us if we’re being bad,” “say stuff on the intercom,” and “keep the school safe.” Thank you for all you do!
