Give Blood. Save Lives. TODAY!

Aquin Servant Leaders are hosting a blood drive on campus today. You can call Aquin High School to sign up at 815-235-3154 x 230 or just stop in as walk-ins are welcome. First-time donors need to bring a photo ID with their date of birth. Students who are 16 years old will need signed parental consent forms.

College Financial Aid Presentation Tonight!

(the date for this presentation has changed a couple of times--it is now being held tonight!)

Kathy Bangasser, financial director at HCC, will be giving a college financial aid presentation for all Aquin parents and students on Wednesday, December 2 in the Aquin High School Cafeteria from 6:00-7:00pm. Federal, state and school financial aid programs will be covered.

  • What programs are available?
  • How do I apply?

  • How much can I get?
If you have not completed a FAFSA before, or just need a refresher on the procedures, you should plan to attend. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Klipp at fred.klipp@aquinschools.org.

Aquin Elf Shop Open this Weekend!

A few years ago, we hosted an Elf Shop during the December Flea Market. The Junior Class would like to do that again--and they'd love your help!

We are accepting donations for the Elf Shop at either campus office or in the Band Room (Elf Shop). So, get your Christmas decorations up and fill a box (or boxes) of gently used items that you would like to donate. Any unpurchased items from the Elf Shop will be donated to the Salvation Army.

If you are a baking elf, please donate homemade treats and cookies now. We’d greatly appreciate it. Please let us know how many you can donate so we can plan accordingly.

All the details of the Elf Shop are listed below. Click here to download a copy of the poster and hang it at work, share it with your neighbors and help get the word out.

Call Aquin at 235.3154 x 221 and leave a message for Jamie or send an email to jamie.rogers@aquinschools.org. Proceeds from the Elf Shop and Cookie Walk will go toward the Junior Class Prom efforts.

Adesse Tickets

Keep selling Adesse tickets as they are on sale through December 7 for $20. Our goal is to raise $35,000 to help with annual budgetary expenses like heat, electricity, transportation, supplies, maintenance, etc.

We need each Aquin student in Preschool through grade 12 to sell 10 tickets to reach this goal!

Another Great Christmas Gift Idea!

Our 'BACKIN AQUIN!' spirit pack is a great gift idea for anyone who wants to support the Aquin Bulldogs and Lady Dawgs' Basketball teams. Please help spread the word about this great offer to those who may not know about this deal--Aquin alumni, parents of Aquin alumni, your neighbors, co-workers, grandparents, aunts and uncles--or buy a spirit pack for them as a gift!

Check the Calendar!

Having a hard time keeping up?

There have been lots of changes and additions to schedules of athletic events, dress-up days, meetings and more. Stay on top of 'all things Aquin' by referring to the web calendar. Bookmark this page now and check back regularly--www.aquinschools.org/about/calendar.cfm.

Head Start 'Santa' Gifts

Please take advantage of Christmas sales and purchase gifts for the Head Start children. The kids who will receive these gifts are between the ages of 3 to 5. Santa's bag needs many gifts, so several small toys are better that one large one. Please send the gifts wrapped or unwrapped to either campus. If you do wrap your gift(s), please note whether the gift is for a boy or a girl.

(Menard's has gift bags that we can use--and that are 'FREE' after rebate. The bags cost $2.98 and you may purchase 10 per rebate form. Aquin will use these bags for the Head Start 'Santa' Gifts as well as for other 'gifting' projects that arise.)

Vote for the Aquin Window at Bocker

Once again, under the direction of our master, Mr. Pisula, the Aquin senior high art students have painted a window at Bocker at 801 E. South in Freeport. This year's original art created by the students depicts 'The Christmas Truce 1914' and is entitled 'Peace on Earth'. It includes an image of the Eiffel Tower.

Beginning Friday, November 27th, you can go down and vote for the Aquin window. Cash prizes of $600, $400 and $200 will be awarded to the top 3 schools based on the public voting. Mr. P always spends his prize money very wisely on 'non-consumables' for all Art students to use. Past purchases have been jewelry-making equipment, pottery wheels, etc. Voting ends December 23rd--so vote early and vote often.

Thank you to Bocker for supporting the Arts in the schools!

Vote for our Gingerbread House

Aquin has an entry in the Gingerbread House Contest at the Freeport Public Library and we need your votes to help us win. You can vote everyday from now until December 22. The house with the most votes wins $100.00. Second and Third place get $25.00 each. Any winnings that Aquin receives will go to our Interact group which will in turn use those funds to help others.

Vote for the Aquin 'Giving Tree'

While you're at the Library from December 7 through January 4, peruse the Festival of Trees on display. Aquin students will set up all of the trees for this event and then go back when the event is over and pack up all of the trees for next year.

Aquin also decorates a tree for the Festival and this year's tree is themed 'the Giving Tree'. Again, you can vote for the Aquin tree to win the People's Choice award. Aquin's Interact group will be given $500 for the service work with the trees. If they win the People's Choice award, that money will 'be included' in the $500 they are given for the service work. Interact uses the $500 to fund other projects for those in need.
