Colloquium
SUHSD Curriculum, Instruction & Professional Development
September 2014: The year is off to a great start in the Sweetwater Union High School District!
Many people are collaborating to arrange the best conditions for Zone workshops.
Agendas and materials for all Cohort and Zone workshops are housed in Canvas.
Technology is a definite asset!
Feedback from nearly 600 workshop participants so far suggests high-quality planning and facilitation by District- and Site-level Curriculum Specialists in all content areas (including Special Education).
Average response from all workshop participants to date: 4.6
Average response from all workshop participants to date: 4.4
Site Specialists facilitate Zone workshops serving all teachers in each of the four core content areas.
Engaging activities challenge teachers to build shared understanding of critical student skills.
Teachers work in teams to plan and apply what they learn to classroom practice.
Effective instruction depends on alignment of three dimensions of curriculum: written, taught and tested.
Written: defines what students should know and be able to do.
Taught: relates to the engagement of students with teachers and with each other.
Tested: consists of ways to measure student proficiency and knowledge
Computer Science needs you!
Participate in a series of eight (PAID) two-hour workshops to be held after school and/or on Saturday mornings according to participant preferences. Offering both practical training and an opportunity to help shape our District's vision regarding computational thinking at all levels, the workshops will be led by SUHSD teachers Art Lopez and colleagues. See attached flyer for more details and apply here. We seek representatives of each school site in our district.
