Math
- CURRICULUM UPDATES: Curriculum Writers will be working next week, but lessons will not be posted for grades 3-5 until the following week for Cluster 2. K-2 has curriculum writing on September 28; lessons for Cluster 2 will be posted on October 5. When you are backwards planning for Cluster 2 you can use the Cluster Planner, CBA, and Scaffolding Documents to work on the following: unpack the TEKS and identify Student Behaviors and Teacher Behaviors, create CFAs, plan problem solving and work stations.
- 2nd-4th Grades: We are NOT doing ESTAR testing in the fall this year. This change has not been updated on Eduphoria yet.
- 5th Grade: The technology side of MSTAR has been having difficulties importing all of the students and assigning them to the correct teacher. I will let you know when the problem is resolved. If you cannot administer the MSTAR within the time frame, it's not anything to worry about. Some things are out of your control.
- Exemplars is our best resource to intentionally teach the process standards. We all know that from our time spent on August 18th learning about process standards and STAAR, that STAAR questions have at least 3 processes per questions. Therefore, we are doing our students a great service by utilizing this resource.
- The teacher table/workstation component of the math block is roughly half of the math workshop. Therefore, workstations should be aligned to the TEKS. The curriculum writers spent time ensuring that the workstations available to us on forethought include process standards.
- 75% of math stations should include the process standards
- 25% could consist of games, fact fluency, and vocabulary
Here is an example of where to find the stations provided in Eduphoria.
ELAR for everyone!
Text Coding
I have been hearing great ideas about how to use text coding K-5 across content areas!
Check out the poster below if you would like a resource to share with students to help them as they begin learning to code.

ELAR Curriculum Writers!
FISD curriculum writers spent this week working on Cluster 3: Visualize to Experience. Stay tuned!
Common Formative Assessment (CFA)
I would love to support your team in creating Common Formative Assessments. We can use a CFA to see how students are grasping a concept before a grade is taken on it. The information we receive from the CFA helps with targeted whole class or small group instruction, as it shows where intervention is needed. Please let me know if you would like to schedule a time to create some together.
Identifying Essentials
Check out Lead4Ward's "Unpacking the Readiness Standards", it is a great resource to use for identifying the essentials.
