Media Center Philosophy
More than any other facility in the school, the library functions as a place for students to cultivate all of their interests (educational and otherwise), thus becoming their best selves in the process.
Below you will find our library mission, vision, values, and policies as well as the most commonly used websites in the library and contact information.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
- The library is open daily from 7:40 AM until 2:45 PM.
- Learners visit the library once a cycle with their ELA class. During this 15 minute time slot, they have book exchange and reading time.
- Learners may check out up to three books at a time. They have two weeks from the date of check out to return or renew the book before it is considered overdue.
- Young Adult books (YA) are available for 7th and 8th graders only as YA books have more mature content. 6th graders and 5th graders can read these books with a special permission slip from the librarian that is signed by a parent or guardian. Students in OMEGA do not need a permission slip from a parent.
- Learners are able to use the library space to work, read, or study with permission from their teachers during class time or Baron Time as long as there is a librarian or library assistant present in the library.
HIGH SCHOOL
The library is open daily from 7:20 AM until 2:50 PM. Our newly renovated space is open; however, the shelves are not yet installed, so the library space is not quite open for all students yet.
To use the library space during class time or lunch time, signing up ahead of time is required.
Any time learners come into the library without a class, you MUST sign in at the circulation desk.
There is no limit to the number of books high school students can check out. Most books may be borrowed for three weeks.
GENERAL POLICIES FOR BOTH SCHOOLS
All materials may be checked out with a school ID number, a first/last name, or a finger scan.
Technology items (iPads, chargers, headphones, tripods, cameras) must be returned the same day unless an exception is made.
In the case that we do not have the book a learner needs, requests can be made through our InterLibrary Loan system.
All checked-out items may be renewed.
Overdue reminders will be sent to the learner's school email and/or Schoology messages. Additional reminders may be mailed home.
While we do not charge fines for overdue materials, learners may be restricted on checking out books until overdue books are returned
Parents may receive emails, phone calls, or notices about the missing book. If a book has been lost or damaged beyond repair, the book must be paid for so it can be replaced for the library.
All learners are invited to see the librarian with specific requests for materials, books, or ebooks they want to see in the library.
eBooks can be checked out through Sora at sorapp.com or through the app. See the attachments below for other ebook options and log in instructions.
The library is for inquiry, discovery, study, and enjoyment of books, media, and information. We ask that learners use, respect, and appreciate all of its resources!
Please note that our secondary media centers follow the guidelines set forth by the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights. I believe that all learners should have the freedom to read as this is their constitutional right. To read more about what a learner's freedom to read entails, please check out this statement.
Destiny
Please note that you and your child can sign into Destiny using their school username and password. This will allow you to see what books your child has checked out and when they are due. Check out this video tutorial for instructions on how to log in to Destiny.
