Message from Mrs. Gilbert & Mr. Ramalho
Happy April! As we approach the warmer weather, we are excited to share that Walk to School Day is back and will take place this coming Wednesday. We encourage students that are interested to walk to school with friends and families. Remember to enter the building by way of the front door if you participate.
Officer High Five Friday will take place on Friday. We are truly grateful for this partnership and look forward to see members of the Chelmsford Police Department as we end the week.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the International Festival which will take place on Saturday, April 9th at South Row from 1-3pm. Please consider sending "Around the World" photos of your children/family to internationalfestivalsouthrow@gmail.com. This is a special event to South Row where we celebrate and appreciate our diversity.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Respectfully,
Terri and Jayson

A Message from Mrs. C in the Art Room...
Hi South Row Families!
Finally, we can have an all-school South Row Annual Art Show!! On Thursday May 26th there will be an "opening" for families to come and see their student's artwork displayed in the front hallway and the gym here in the school from 6:00-8:00 PM. In order to have 1 piece by each student displayed I will need some volunteers! I have created a sign-up genius for the first step which is to have each student's artwork matted and labeled. I will add the slots for helping in the school to set up at a later date. Thank you in advance for helping make this happen!
Love Mrs. C.
Nurses Corner
Dear South Row Families,
Just a couple quick reminders:
HEALTH SCREENINGS May 3rd, 4th, and 5th
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health Regulation requires students be screened at Chelmsford Public Schools at certain intervals. In elementary school, your child will be screened for:
Hearing: Grades *K, 1, 2, 3
Vision with stereopsis testing: Grades *K, 1, 2, 3
Visual acuity: Grade 4
Height/Weight Grades 1, 4
*Kindergarten: Upon entering kindergarten ,or within 30 days of the start of school, the guardian shall present to school the Health Care Provider documentation from within the previous 12 months that the child has passed a vision screening. If your kindergarten child is missing a hearing or vision screening, it will be done at school.
Please make sure your student brings or wears their prescribed eyeglasses at school for the vision screening. Alternatively, if your child is currently under the care of an optometrist and you would like to opt out of the vision screening, please email me at vandevoordts@chelmsford.k12.ma.us
If you choose to have your child opt out of any of these screenings, please email me to exclude your student from participating. Please email me opt out requests by Monday April 25th. vandevoordts@chelmsford.k12.ma.us
3rd Grade Physicals:
If you have not already done so, please send in your third grader’s most recent physical.
Allergies:
If your child has seasonal allergies, now is a good time to start that daily antihistamine!

This Week's Enrichment...
Grade K (Liquids and Solids): Our kindergarten classes enjoyed a visit from the Discovery Museum for a lesson on the states of matter. They experimented with solids and liquids by melting ice cubes and chocolate chips, and they learned that a solid can turn to liquid and back to solid again as they watched our guest scientist melt crayons into a colorful liquid which then hardened onto paper. They also built a cooler to prevent an ice cube from melting fast. We have some future engineers among us!
