Activities from the weeks
Over the past two weeks...
We created class selfies where students drew a selfie of themselves and then wrote activities they did over the summer or told a little more about themselves. We also started holding class and small group discussions using accountable talk. Finally, students were able to visit the interactive math bulletin board to create numbers, participate in math stumpers, or learn about a famous mathematician. We also practiced our reading strategies by reading a text and finding text evidence, participating in a fluency building activities, and understanding how descriptive language enhances a text. Our Class Selfies

Other classroom things
Warm Fuzzies: If our class (entire class) receives a compliment for their behavior, we put a warm fuzzy in the jar. Once we earn 30 warm fuzzies we get to vote on a class celebration. Just so you know, we are very close to 30 warm fuzzies.
Class Shout-Outs: If a student catches another student doing something nice, they write a shout-out and put it in our shout out box. On Fridays we read the shout-outs and celebrate those students
Lunch Cupcakes: During lunch, the lunch helpers choose which third grade class was showing the best behavior and they earn a cupcake. Once a class earns 5 cupcakes, they vote on a celebration such as extra recess, no homework, lunch in the classroom, etc.
Tickets: Students earn tickets for showing appropriate behavior, participation, higher level thinking, hallway behavior, etc. Students are responsible for holding onto their tickets. On Fridays we have ticket cash in days. Students choose whether they want to cash in their tickets for rewards (sitting at the teachers desk, no shoes in class, wearing a hat in class, bringing in a stuffed animal, etc.) or whether they want to save them for a higher ticket prize.
