Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated every year during the last week of October. It is a nationally recognized substance abuse prevention campaign dedicated to the memory of Kiki Camarena, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, killed in the line of duty. The wearing of red ribbons is a visible symbol of our commitment to lead safe, healthy, and drug free lifestyles.

GC Education Foundation Grants
From Janice Kane: This year our grant process is totally electronic. You can click on the link below that takes you to a google form, complete all the information requested, hit submit, and your grant application automatically goes into a shared folder by Curriculum & Instruction and myself with the date and time submitted recorded. We will only accept applications in this manner. All applications go to Curriculum & Instruction first, and then to me to distribute to our Grants Review Committee. I am also attaching the guidelines for this year's grant process. The below link and guidelines are also posted under Teacher Grant Applications on the employee-only GCISD website and on our GCEF webpages. Many THANKS to Dr. John Doughney for developing the google form and assisting us with our new process! If you have any questions, please let us know. Fall Carnival Auction Items
Dear Staff:
On behalf of the PTA, thanks for all that you do for our kids! As you know, our silent auction is fast approaching. I have found our kids and parents love to bid on auction items that involve our teachers or administrators. With this in mind, I am hoping you can offer an activity for our silent auction as you have done in the past. Know that no donation is too small or too large!
The ideas below include past year donations as well as new ones:
- Principal of the Day / Teacher for the day / Librarian for the day
- Baby-sitting for a family
- Dodgeball tournament
- Tutoring in specified subject
- Movie night out or Holiday movie after school
Again, we appreciate all you do. I welcome any donations or additional ideas you may have!
Regards,
Ana McCollum

FYI
- Attendance Letters: This year, letters are being sent via Skyward with parents being notified by email. Communication about the attendance still needs to occur, as it did last year. Teachers still make three day letter phone calls. If previous communication with Shelly has not been noted from a parent, then teacher will receive the note from Tonya to make the three day phone call. If you receive an email or call from a parent regarding attendance, please direct the email to Tonya and Shelly. Thank you for stressing the importance of attendance!
- Staff Wish Lists: If you have a wish for your classroom such as legos, chairs, lamps, etc..., please add them to the wish list arranged by Jennifer Brown. We discussed this at PTA executive board meeting that parents have lots of items that they are willing to donate if they know what is needed.
