Library News Volume 1: Issue 2

"All the news that fits!"

Today's topic is...

Newsela - a free News site with leveled articles and quizzes!!

Newsela is a way for students to build reading comprehension with news articles on a wide variety of topics, including science. With just a click, students can read any article at several different reading levels. Newsela builds close reading and critical thinking skills. Give your students a new way to climb the staircase of nonfiction reading comprehension, from fourth grade to college-ready. Each article has an accompanying quiz. Registration is free and you can get a code to give to each student in your class if you want to keep track of their progress and quiz results.

Gale databases and reading levels

Gale Resources, the provider of many of our databases, labels articles by reading level, so that teachers can find appropriate materials. For more information about how to use these resources in your classroom, please see me.
