Choice Weekly Update
August 16, 2019
Choice Student Applications
The window to submit student applications in period one closes September 1. Note that this is the Sunday before Labor Day. All requests regarding student Choice applications must be received prior to the deadline in order to be considered. There are no extensions.
Please review all submitted data for accuracy. The Choice School Scholarship Report in the STN Application Center can be used to review the list of students and data that has been submitted.
School Contact Information
If there have been any changes in staff positions at your school, please be sure to complete an updated Choice School Contacts Form and send it to ChoiceSchool@doe.in.gov. School-specific communications and reminders are sent to the emails on file from this form.
Choice School Applications
Schools intending to participate in the Choice Scholarship Program must submit an application for each year that they wish to participate. The deadline to apply for the 2019-2020 school year is September 1. Keep in mind, though, that the review and approval process may take up to two weeks. The first application window for student applications also closes on September 1. Information about required application documents is detailed in "Getting Started."
If the Choice application is unable to automatically verify a student's eligibility for special education services, you will receive the message, "SE Record not Found." When you submit the application, the status will show as pending. Please notify ChoiceSchool@doe.in.gov when this occurs. A specialist in special education will review the information to confirm the student's eligibility for special education services.
The application must be submitted and show as "pending" on or before September 1 to be eligible for approval in period 1.
All Choice students who qualify for special education services must have a special education service provider form in their file. This form must be signed by the parent/guardian and must indicate who the parent/guardian is selecting as the special education service provider.
Please take time to review the Choice Scholarship Special Education Report (CS SE Report) under the data verification tab in the STN Application Center. This report lists the special education provider that has been selected for eligible Choice students. Any corrections must be made before the September 1 student application deadline.
Additional resources for special education are posted in the Nonpublic School Community in Moodle.

2019 Cohort
Currently only about 82 percent of the expected graduation records have been received. There is a new validation for the 2019 GR that requires supporting INTERS data to have been submitted if the graduate is being reported with a post-secondary competency of 5 (Industry Credential/Certification) or 7 (CTE concentrator.) Please note that once the INTERS system is updated, it can take up to one week for the STN Application System to be updated with the information. Do now wait until the last minute to submit your 2019 GR records. The DOE-GR collection closes on October 4 at 4:00 p.m.
Corporation Amendments
Corporation and school profile amendments must be submitted by September 1. This memo details how to complete this process. Changes such as opening a new school, closing a school, or reconfiguring a school must go through the corporation amendment process.Questions
