First Band Concert is Coming!
Our first 5th grade band concert is coming up in 2 weeks!
Rehearsal
We will have a rehearsal from 5:30-6:30 pm the night of our concert at UMS in the gymnasium. This rehearsal is important because it is the first time we are bringing all 6 elementary schools together and our first concert, so we need to get used to playing together and hearing each other. If your student needs to be a little late because a conflict or ride issue, that is fine. I would rather students be a little late than miss the concert completely. The earliest that students will be let in the building is 5:15 pm, unless Ms. Peterik is contacted and there is an arrangement made beforehand.
The Concert
The concert is on Thursday, December 5th at 7:00 pm in the UMS Gymnasium. The concert will be short- we should be finished by 7:30 pm or so.
What to wear and what to bring
Students should wear nice clothes - preferably no jeans or tennis shoes if possible. If this is not possible, that is okay, students should still come to the concert.
Students need to bring their Tradition of Excellence music book and their instrument. I will provide music stands, but if a student wants to bring their own instead, that is fine. All books and music stands should be labeled with the child's name.
Songs we will be playing - practice these at home!
Here are the songs we are playing for the concert:
- #10 Steppin'
- #11 El Camino Mariachi Duet (parts will be assigned at rehearsal)
- #12 Cuckoo
- #15 Rising Rhythms
- #16 Stepping Stones

- #18 In a Minor Mood

Please email Ms. Peterik at speterik@usd116.org. The night of the concert, I will not be able to check email because I have to set up for the concert right after school and then rehearsal will start. I will get to emails after the concert. If you have any immediate concerns that can't wait until after the concert, you can text or call my work cell phone at (815) 782-2143 and leave a message. I will get back to you if I can.
