What a Great Start . . . .
I would like to thank all of the teachers, staff, families and the Titus Home and School Association for a fantastic opening on September 3rd. It was a great morning, as students filled the halls and were met by their teachers and our staff. Parents were busy providing a great morning at home, at drop off and then again meeting their children with smiles at the end of the day. Students could be seen helping each other “find their way,” and teachers walking hand-in-hand with some of our smaller friends. As I said to Dr. Weitzel, acting Superintendent, when he asked about our opening . . . “It was a great opening, it felt the way an elementary school should feel.” Here’s to a great school year!
Fall Conference Sign-ups . . .
Parents are being asked to sign-up for their fall (November) conferences during our scheduled “Back-to-School-Nights” this year. Our hope is to provide families with more opportunity to find times that work with their schedule and their life. Tables with clipboards (one clipboard for each teacher) will be set up in room 301 during each “Back to School Night” – September 10, 12 & 19. Each evening, there will be sign-up sheets for every teacher. This means, a parent who has a child in 1st grade, 3rd grade and 6th grade can sign-up for all three students on any given night.
Teachers and staff will be available each night in room 301 to address any questions or concerns you may have regarding conference sign-ups.
Giant A+ Rewards . . .
Welcome to the start of a new school year and another year of A+ School Rewards. Beginning September 1st, Titus will have the opportunity to earn cash through Giant A+ School Rewards Program. All you have to do is log on to www.giantfoodstores.com/aplus and register your Giant card to benefit Florence D. Titus Elementary School, using ID #03597. Attending to this simple process makes a big difference to our school.
Nominations Needed . . .
Boomerang Youth Recognition Award - September Asset – Positive Family Communication. Young person and his/her parents communicate positively, and young person is willing to seek advice and counsel from parents.
Nominate a Titus student by sending an email to Mrs. Horan by Friday, September 20th. The nomination is open to any student that makes a difference at Titus or in the community. Parents, friends, teachers or Titus staff can nominate a student. Please nominate that special student who makes a difference to our Titus community.

Clothes for Cash . . .
Titus has recently joined forces with Turnkey Enterprises as a fund raising effort for our school. Turnkey Enterprises is a company that buys secondhand clothing - the clothing that they collect from the drop-off shed in our parking lot. All of the clothing collected is only used as clothing, never cut into rags. Turnkey pays our school for every pound of clothing that we collect.
As you clean out your closets and get ready for another fall, drop-off those used clothes at Titus. The money collected will go toward our school account to fund and support projects such as the summer reading program, building upgrades, technology purchases, professional resources, beautification efforts, etc. . . . Thank you for your support.
Save the Date . . .
Please join Central Bucks School District in supporting the 9/11 Heroes Run. Registration is now open for the September 15th event. Doylestown borough will once again host a 5k and 1 mile fun walk/run to raise support and awareness for all of the heroes of September 11th.
Home and School Association:
Race for Education . . .
Titus Elementary School will be participating in our one and done Race 4 Education fundraiser. We invite family and friends to join us in helping to raise funds for essential learning tools, such as field trips, Young Author’s Day, End-of-Year Picnic and Home & School sponsored Family Fun Events, etc. Each participant will raise funds by asking sponsors to make a tax deductible donation to the Titus Home & School Association.
Please turn in your labels and the green "sponsor name" sheet by Wednesday, September 18th. Thank you for your support!
Homeroom Parents Needed . . .
We are looking for parents who would be interested in volunteering to be a homeroom parent for their child(ren)’s class. As homeroom parents, you will plan for the party activities (games, crafts, food), collect $10 from parents to pay for party items and coordinate parent volunteers to help at the party and send in food treats.
If you are interested in volunteering to be a homeroom parent, please complete this form and email it to Kim Corso by Friday, September 6th. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Corso.
Kindergarten Movie Night . . .
Calling all kindergarten students and their families! Please join us for a family movie night on Friday, September 27th from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Titus Dining Room. A treat will be served but feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. Don't forget your blankets!
Volunteers Needed . . .
The Fall Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet was available to Titus families during our Open House. The form was attached to the Welcome Letter from Home & School. If you did not attend, please look for the form to come home or at Back-to-School Night. If you are interested in volunteering you can return the form by September 13th, or complete the process on-line.
KidStuff Books . . .
KidStuff Book sale will start September 19 and run until October 10, 2013. The cost of the book is $25, and Titus receives 50% of the profit from the sales. Even though Race for Education is our only fundraiser, we sell the books as a service to the Titus community. Many Titus parents have asked Home & School to sell the books because they benefit from the great coupons and they want the school to get the profits. Harvest Breakfast . . .
The Harvest Breakfast is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 8:00-11:00 a.m. Families can enjoy a nice hot breakfast along with fall crafts, music and a fall photo scene. Keep an eye out for the reservation slip in next weeks Wednesday folder. There is no charge for the event, and we ask for the RSVP to get an idea of how many to expect, and how much food to have on hand.
Not sure if you can make it? Not a problem! Please join us the day of the event. It will be open to all Titus families!
