Testing Updates

In an effort to reduce the amount of tests our students are taking, we are no longer administering MAP tests. Although the data from this assessment has been helpful in making instructional decisions and showing growth over time, the district made a decisions to eliminate it from being administered. Our teachers have other methods of collecting data for our students to help make decisions to guide our teaching and to show growth over time. As you meet with your child's teacher in the coming weeks, he/she will be able to explain how your child is performing and explain the steps to help him/her succeed this year.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications Due

Each year students must reapply for these benefits. If you have not applied for Free or reduced meals for this school year all meal prices will automatically change to full price on September 30, 2019 and you will be responsible for paying for these meals.

Applications for Free or Reduced Priced meals are available online at lunchapplication.com. Paper applications are at the front office or online-(linked here). Applications for meal benefits are accepted all year long. If you have any questions, please call the Student Nutrition Office at 803.802.1968.

Boosterthon is Coming!

Parents and families—this year’s main fundraiser is the Orchard Park Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a pep rally on Wednesday, October 2. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps) at the Orchard Park Fun Run, which will happen on Friday, October 11. This year our goal is to raise $38,000 for STEAM Dreams, and we need your help! We’ve asked the experts at booster to power our fundraiser to make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Mindspark: Wild West! Booster’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M. skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the Mindspark Kids to save Dr. Shock, our students will learn five character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.

Donations will go toward STEAM Dreams and the entire two-week experience. So please help our school by getting pledges from family and friends and entering them on funrun.com. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on our students at the Orchard Park Fun Run. Thanks so much for your support!
