Important Dates and Information

Wednesday, October 1st is Picture Day.

Friday, October 3rd is when the Texas Regions Projects are due.

Monday, October 6th is State Fair Day - we will not have school.

Thursday, October 23rd is when our Report Cards will go home, please review, sign, and return them to school on Friday, October 24th.

~ Your child must have their multiplication facts memorized thru 12x12. We will soon start double digit multiplication and division. Memorizing their facts will help them be successful with area, perimeter, double digit multiplication, and division. You may purchase multiplication flash cards at The Dollar Tree, for $1.00 if you would like, or your child can make them at home.

~ If you have any questions or need anything, please let us know. We will be contacting you soon to set our beginning of the school year conferences, and we would really like to meet with everyone.

~We will be sending home notes soon about having our beginnings of the year conferences. We feel it is very important for us to meet with each family, if possible. Our conferences usually do not last longer than 10-15 minutes.

Things we are leaning in school!

We will be working on adding and subtracting whole numbers and decimals, place value to hundred billion, rounding, and multiplication.

While you are in the car, or talking to your child, ask them multiplication questions, or have them pick numbers to add or subtract. They can even show you how to use a "Dinosaur" to round!

Reading and Writing

In writing we are working on writing a paragraph with clear details, and correct grammar and punctuation.

In Reading we are continuing our fiction and nonfiction unit.

Science and Social Studies

In Science we are starting to discuss mixtures and solutions. Ask your child the the difference is between a mixture and a solution.

In Social Studies are now learning about European Explorers. Ask your child who their favorite European Explorer is, and why they like them.
