A Freshmans Guide to Scheduling
Planning your Sophomore year
You must earn 21 credits to graduate. Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credits each year of high school
- 4 credits in English/Lang. Arts
- 3 credits in Social Studies
- 4 credits in Math – incl. Alg. II
- 3 credits in Science
- 1 credit in Fine Arts
- 1/2 credit in Health
- 1/2 credit in Physical Education or PE Waiver w/no credit awarded

Meet 7 of the following 8 criteria
- 4 credits of English/Language Arts
- 4 credits of Math (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, one additional higher level math)
- 4 credits of Science (Must include two of the following courses: chemistry, advanced chemistry, chemistry II, AP chemistry, physics, AP Biology, anatomy and physiology, CCP Anatomy and Physiology, AP Physics I or II)
- 4 credits of Social Studies
- 3 credits of 1 Foreign Language or 2 credits in each of 2 Foreign Languages
- 1 credit of Fine Arts
- 3.5 cumulative GPA
- An ACT composite score of 27 or an SAT total score of 1210
Classes by Application
- You cannot sign up for a Class By Application using your scheduling card or the online scheduling process
- You must use a separate Class By Application Form available in the Counseling Center or from the Application Class teacher or advisor
- You are not in the Class By Application (even if the teacher tells you that you are) until we receive a class list from the teacher
- You must indicate on your Class By Application Form which class(es) or study hall you wish to drop in order to make room, if needed, for the Class By Application
- ALL Students must select at least 5 1/2 credits which CANNOT include any Classes By Application
- Alterations to your schedule requests will be made as needed once the Counseling Center has received class lists from your Class By Application teacher or advisor

Scheduling Card Tips
Before You Turn in Your Card
- Have at least 6 credits on scheduling card (not to include Classes By Application)
- Obtain recommended classes from Language Arts, Math, and Science teachers
- Have parent/guardian sign scheduling card
- Pick up Class By Application forms, if interested, in the Counseling Center
