A Terrific Homecoming at PHS!

Thanks to our whole school community for a wonderful Homecoming weekend. From the float building the past two weeks and the Homecoming rally last week, to the float parade through the west side, the Homecoming Football game and halftime festivities and, finally, the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night, all plans came off as hoped.

A huge thank you to all the ASB students who organized things, to all the parents who helped with float building and getting supplies, to all those who volunteered to chaperone the dance, and to all those who just came out to Ellison Field to support the Trojans and enjoy each others company. Friday evening was all the sweeter with a JV win followed by a strong and balanced offensive effort by the varsity boys (PHS 56, El Molino 31). Congratulations to Savannah Engler, our Homecoming Queen for 2018! Also note the Science Department fundraiser (see flyer below)

Below are articles and clips on Link Crew, Homecoming, Sports Corner, as well as updates on our former librarian, Connie Williams and her adventures at Petaluma Public Library, former Trojan Greg Thomas, currently kicking for the Cal Bears, and a feature on Steve Ellison and the Field That Bears His Name as football kicks off. Take a look at the upcoming dates calendar. Pencil in coffee with the Principal at Aqus Cafe next Tuesday, 9/18 at 9AM.

Also note that we are looking for a couple more parents for our School Site Council. We meet once a month on the second Thursday of the month in F6 at 3:15pm. If you are interested, please email Thank you!

That's all for the moment. Have a great week!

Link Crew Update

The Link Crew program certainly doesn't end at Freshman Orientation! Link Crew leaders are always looking for ways to connect and reconnect with our freshmen. These next few weeks on Fridays, the PHS Cornhole tournament continues with freshman teams taking on each other. Ask your freshman if he or she is trying out Cornhole!

Back to School Night!

Sports Corner

The Trojans JV and Varsity football squads shone on Homecoming night at Ellison Field with two excellent performances. The JV battled a game El Molino squad before coming away with the win. The varsity dominated early, bouncing back from an early Lion score to put up 42 points by halftime. Coach Krist was able to spread the ball around and get everyone in the game. More than 500 yards of offense in a balanced attack. Our student section was in full voice, cheering the boys on. Always nice to see a full house at Ellison Field!

The Trojans (3-1) now head out on the road to take on American Canyon. The Wolves (0-4) are far better than their record suggests, having played a very tough non-league schedule. Our boys will have to be at the top of their game. Go Trojans!

Girls Volleyball (3-5) kicked off Vine Valley league play with a 3-1 victory over Napa in the home gym. Though they had a tough weekend at the Norcal tourney, they hope to get back on track versus American Canyon on the road on Tuesday before hosting Vintage on Thursday.

College Dream Team

We are excited to continue our College Dream Team program this fall. The program supports students who are interested in applying to a four year college but can't afford the preparation classes, SAT prep and direct help on college essays. David Elliot, CDT director, met with more than a dozen prospective collegians last week to continue the process of getting set for college. We will update you on the progress of these terrific students!
