Panther Post
January 21st - January 27th
Hello Lopez Families,
Another cold week just passes but it was a good one. Taking the 8th graders up to Reagan was a blast. And seeing everyone here for the 6th and 7th grade parent night was a welcome sight. I hope you got a lot out of it.
One of our 7th grade students set a pretty solid milestone recently. Carson Green was invited to play in the International Bowl football game put on by USA Football. Getting invited was good enough, but he ended up dominating the game earning MVP and setting a national record for yards and touchdowns for the national team. What an amazing accomplishment. That is him with me pictured below. We are so proud!
Ask your kids about lunch last Friday. We had a Panther Challenge demonstration where we got volunteers up on stage to play one of the Challenge games. They were playing Human Hungry Hippo and it was a blast. If you haven't signed them up yet, please see the forms below or go to the Lopez web site.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Wernli

Leader In Me
For teens, life is not a playground, it can be like a jungle. Being the parent of a teenager is not a walk in the park, either. What can Lopez students do to Be Proactive?
Being proactive can be a key to unlocking success. Help your teen take control and responsibility for their life. What can your teen do this semester to be Proactive at school? Ideas: Sign up for Parent/Student Portal, check the schedule for morning coaching, have an agenda and write or type in weekly requirements.
Proactive people understand that they are responsible for their own happiness or unhappiness. They don't blame others for their own actions or feelings.
Annual Panther Performance Auditions
Do you love to sing, dance, play an instrument, or have another talent you’d like to share? Start practicing now for The 3rd Annual Panther Performance Auditions that will be held in the library on Wednesday, January 23rd, and Thursday, January 24th 3:35-4:15pm. Sign up in the library to secure a time slot to show off your talent. Sign up today! All grades welcome!
Upcoming 8th Grade Meetings
Dear 8th grade parents, parking during electives fair at Reagan will be limited to the student parking areas (pink and blue lots) which will require a bit of a walk. We are most sorry for the inconvenience. The Reagan Theatre Department is currently in their last stages of rehearsal for the musical production, Oklahoma. The production involves many fine arts students who typically park in our COOP/silver lot, which is closest to the main entrance, thus our limited parking situation. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to your visit.
Box Tops for Education
January begins anew, but we are still collecting Box Tops! Over the break, families are encouraged to cut out as many Box Tops as possible, and bring them in upon our return to school! Student may drop off those Box Tops with Mrs. Jenke in the Lopez Library. Check out the attached flyer with a list of products where you will find Box Tops/ Each Box Top is worth .10 to our school! Thank you for your continued support of Lopez Middle School!
