This newsletter is created by the CBEA Instruction and Professional Development Committee, a committee dedicated to promoting the educational objectives of the association. These objectives include fostering the continuous improvement of instruction and curriculum in order to assist each student in realizing his or her maximum potential.

Rosenthal Prize for Innovation in Math Teaching
Applications are now being accepted for the Rosenthal Prize for Innovation in Math Teaching, offered through the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath).
The Rosenthal Prize is intended to recognize and promote hands-on math teaching in upper elementary and middle school classrooms. It carries a cash award of $25,000 for the single best activity, plus up to five additional monetary awards for other innovative activities. The winning teacher or teachers will have the opportunity to share their innovative activities with educators across the country.
The application deadline is May 31, 2016. Classroom teachers of grades 4 through 12 (who teach at least 60% of a full teaching schedule) are eligible to apply. The activities must be designed for students in grades 4 through 8. More information is available at http://momath.org/rosenthal-prize/.
