Happening this week...
Three week grades will be posted this week. Check skyward and schedule a tutoring session if needed.
All 6th graders should be reading a book either through iLit, Destiny, or our physical library.

Sanchez-We have launched our CELL-abration unit and will continue to learn about cells and their unique functions. We will have progress checks throughout the week to ensure we are on track for success!

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons
It’s EAT week!!
Students have been working hard learning about chemical formulas, chemical reactions, and chemical equations - now it is time to give that some real world application! Student groups will be creating a food item to share with the class on Wednesday. Please be prepared to help you student with this.
Monday: Project Planning - students will figure out what they are cooking and who will bring what to complete the project.
Tuesday: Presentation Planning - students will develop a way to present the required pieces of the making of their food including chemical formulas, chemical reactions, and balanced equations.
Wednesday: Presentation Day! - Students will participate in a gallery walk and test different foods from different groups learning that “You Are What You Eat”.
Thursday: Unit Review - a review will be available on Google Classroom and linked on the unit website.
Friday: Unit Test

This week we will be continuing our unit over proportional reasoning. Students will continue to work with percentages and learn how to solve real-world problems to find the whole given a part and the percent, to find the part given the whole and the percent, and to find the percent given the part and the whole. The test for this unit coming up on December 15th. Please make sure your child is attending tutoring sessions if they need additional help with the concepts from Unit 4.

Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Morgan
This week we will be continuing our unit over proportional relationships. Students will be using their proportional reasoning skills to plan a road trip across the United States. Students will test over Unit 3 on Friday, December 8th.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, Mrs. Strother and Ms. Peden
Students are studying South America through the novel study Journey to the River Sea. As we explore the geography and culture of South America, student will practice their identifying figurative language, using inferencing, and learning new vocabulary.
Global Business and Professional Communication ~ Ms. Tedford and Ms. Owen
This week students will be finishing up the media pieces they have been creating to promote the events they have planned. Each team will present their event plan proposals and their promotional media pieces to the class this Friday. After they have shared, we will take a class vote to decide which event is the most well planned!
The event that is chosen will take place next Thursday, December 14th. We will update you on the team that is selected so we can work together to prepare the students to have everything they need for hosting the event in our class!
Next week, before our big event day, we will have the Unit 2 Test on Wednesday, December 13th. The test will be multiple choice and review media concepts and professional skills that the students have been applying throughout the unit.

Art ~ Mrs. Beam
We will jump into our final unit for the semester focusing on furthering our watercolor skills and taking a deeper look at color theory.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
This is the big week. After school practice for our concert will be Tuesday and Wednesday Dec 5-6th from 4-5:30pm in the STEAM Fitness Center.
The concert is Thursday December 7th in the BHS Auditorium at 6:30pm. (Student report time is 5:45pm, in band shirt and khaki pants.)

Great job last week working on dribbling and passing fundamentals. I hope you’re ready to get the goals out this week and work on shooting and lay-up form!
