BRAC's Havana Bienal
Opening week is May 21-28, 2015
Join The Bronx River Art Center & Cuba Educational Travel as we visit The Havana Bienal
Enjoy a rare and special opportunity to join the Bronx River Art Center and its Executive Director Gail Nathan on an exciting and informative trip to Cuba.
Meet the people of Cuba and learn about art from the Americas, and the World.
The week will be devoted to meeting and sharing ideas with Cuban artists, curators and the everyday people of Havana. Contemporary art of Cuba, Latin America, Asia and Africa will be fully displayed throughout the city, making this curated event the only place on the Globe where you can see all of this work together in one place. For American art experts and aficionados alike, the Havana Bienal is a good way to stay in touch with developments in the visual arts of these regions.
Wall to wall art with a tropical breeze!
Havana comes alive during the Bienal, many venues around the city open up to fabulous installations. The city has recently experienced a foodie revolution where many wonderful new private restaurants have opened to the delight of locals and visitors alike. Every artist studio in town will be open and waiting for you.
The opening week will be a citywide art event with multiple venues opening each day. You will be there with art lovers from around the world. Your trip dates coincide exactly with the Opening week of the Bienal.
The visit will take place in Havana and will include a variety of cultural activities and substantive interactions with Cuban cultural experts as well as everyday citizens. All of the program will be designed to maximise quality interaction with the artists and musicians and everyday citizens of the Capital city.
You will be staying at the Hotel Ambos Mundos right in the center of Old Havana and the Hemingway trail.
What is People to People Travel?
IT'S EASIER TO GO TO CUBA!
On January 16, 2015 President Obama liberalized People to People educational travel, which now allows Americans to travel to Cuba without all of the paperwork previously needed. This makes travel to Cuba infinitely easier. People to People travel is not tourist oriented or self directed but it is both rewarding and unique. It allows participants to visit a wide scope of organizations, institutions, and community projects that provide a deeper understanding of Cuba, its people and its culture. This PVAC trip includes a full time schedule of educational exchange activities designed to promote meaningful interactions between Americans and the people of Cuba.
