Scheduling at EGMS

Electives

Electives will look a little different this year than they have in the past. Here are some of the new changes:

  • Students will not be able to change their electives. What is on their schedule will be what they will stick to.
  • Students will not have all of the same elective options as we have had in years past

But... why?

When we return to school in a hybrid model, there are tight regulations about cohorts and how many kids can be in certain places safely. In order to follow these regulations and keep students healthy and safe, we will not be able to make exceptions to this list.

AVID School-Wide

EGMS is excited to announce that the first 30 minutes of each day with begin with an AVID class this year. This will continue when we are able to come back to the classroom and have in-person instruction. This class will be called zero period on the student schedule. We will cover various activities, such as navigating technology, online etiquette, building community with teachers and peers, and much more. Please make sure students are logged in every morning at 9 to kick off their day!

No Lockers This Year

When students are able to return to our hybrid in-class schedule, we will not be able to utilize lockers due to health regulations. Please make sure your student has a backpack that will hold their binder and all of their supplies this year. They will be able to bring them to the classroom.

Last Year's Locker Contents

If you're still missing contents from your locker last year, please contact our Dean of Students- Troy Capps troy.capps@redmondschools.org to arrange a pick up.

TO DO: Student Verification

If you have not already completed returning student verification, please do so as soon as possible using this link: 20/21 student verification This must be done whether or not you choose to be in Comprehensive Distance Learning or Full-Time Online. This ensures we have the most up to date information in our system.

Athletics Corner

Fall sports have been postponed. More information to come.

Nutrition Services

While schools are currently closed due to COVID-19, RSD Nutrition Services will provide meals to students on a “grab and go” basis and we are diligently working on a plan for the fall. As we have more information to share, we will keep families updated. Please consider supporting our school meal programs and stand by for more information about where and when grab and go meals will be available beginning on September 10th, including RSD neighborhood school sites as well as RSD designated bus stops.

We are currently processing Free/Reduced Meal Benefit applications for the 2020-21 school year and encourage you to complete the application at your earliest convenience. Applications may be completed by logging onto https://www.mymealtime.com/ and the file is available to print from our website, http://redmond.k12.or.us/departments/nutrition/, which also provides our contact information should you have any questions.

Nurse Kim's Corner

Hello Elton Gregory Families! We miss you so much and are looking forward to getting back to the business of education again in whatever forms it may take this year! My name is Kim Kirk and I am your school nurse. I am also the nurse for Tom McCall Elementary School. As we start off with distance learning, here are a few pointers to help you prepare for the transition back to in-person learning. If you have any questions or particular health issues that you would like to discuss with me, you can email me at kim.kirk@redmondschools.org, or call me on my district phone, 541 977-6930, and I will do my best to help you in whatever way I can. I will be contacting the families of students with health issues to update health care protocols soon. If you think I might not already be aware of your student’s health issue or if their health needs have changed, please let me know.
