Save the Wolverines!

Wolverines are awesome

Wolverines are elusive, ferocious, and yet vulnerable. Wolverines current population in Canada is approximately 15000 animals. They mostly live in the Yukon and Ontario but mostly northern Canada.

In February 2013, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service proposed giving Endangered Species act protections to the wolverine largely because climate change is whittling away its wintry habitat in the northern Rockies.

Wolverines do not have any predators but around a hundred wolverines are held in zoos across North America and Europe, and they have been successfully bred in captivity, but only with difficulty and high infant mortality.

What we can do!

They are threatened by trapping, habitat loss and fragmentation, and disturbance from winter recreation activities. Given the low numbers of wolverines and the fact they are spread over such a vast area, each of these threats can have a major impact on wolverine recovery. So basically all we need to do is stop using up so much land and don't kill any. Its not easy but together we can save the Wolverines!
